Without YOU this book could not be possible. We, of the staff, hope that your memories are happy, but more important, that the future which is before you is one of prosperity and joy. Francie Smith Editor PrincipaI's Message Again we have come to another yearbook and graduation time. This gives one a chance to reflect on the past and look to the future. You go to school to get an education. Education is, to a large degree, training for living. This means that success in the future depends on getting the most out of your training now. You are fortu- nate to live in the world of today because the opportunities seem boundless. To the graduates--some of you will go on to college to continue preparation for your life's workg some will get marriedg some will take jobsg and still others will enter the armed services of our country We wish you success in all of your undertakings. To the undergraduates--we hope all of you will return next school year with a renewed interest to continue your high school education. To all of you--we are thankful for all the associations and happiness that you have had at the Sonora Union High School. May you remember this as an enjoyable and profitable part of your life. We, and I am sure that I am speakingfor everyone, enjoy undertaking these tasks, notmerely for self satisfaction, but for the happiness and the well being of others. ln the coming years it is going to be necessary for the average people and the leaders of America as well as those ofother countriesto live in harmony. This is, in my opinion, our major goal. We have a wonderful start in a wonderful country in a wonderful school. I am confident that the students before and after this class of 59 have and always will take full advantage of the opportunities offered here, and upon graduation will step out into a completely new world, ready, willing, and able to accept life as it is but always striving toward the betterment of himself and of his fellow man. They had everything a championship team should have: courage, sportsmanship unparalleled. From the opening game after the loss of key personnel for the season, this team fought its way thru tremendous opposi- tion in compiling one of the out- standing records in Sonora High School history. CHAMPIONS THE LEAGUE The Yuba City game best exemplifies this great team desire. Trailing 12-6 at the half, this great Wildcat squad came back in the second half and completely outplayed its bigger opponents. SUHS extends its utmost appreciation and admiration to a gallant band of determined athletes. David Tingle Soph. E Mike Kelley, Sr. E., F. B. Froane Sinclair Sr. E. Jim Spaulding, Sr. E. Los Banos was the only B team that scored on the Wildkittens during their league games. Even then the Wildkittens only allowed one touch- down. This gave them a total of 219 points and only 6 points by opponents during the league play. This team is unique in one other aspect. lts success cannot be attributed to outstanding play by any one or two super stars. Rather, it must be explained by a hard-charging, smooth-operating offense, and a rock- ribbed defense. Our school is justly proud of its Kittens the fine record, and the sportsmanlike manner exhibited in all of the games.
