Student Government The Student Body Commissioners have been very successful in emerging trom a debt ot 5550.00. A more extensive drive was made to sell student body cards which were sold betore school, at noon. during seventh period. and in the locker rooms each period. The Student Body received 553I.00 trom the sale ot cards alone. The 52.00 card allowed the holder to attend all Student Body activities tor 5.05 each and also gave him reductions at theatres and the bowling alley. The remainder ot the debt was cleared by means ot a carnival held in September. Approximately 550.00 was realized trom this venture into the tield ot entertainment. A new amendment was passed this year whereby any commissioner will be auto- matically relieved ot his duties as a student body otticer. it he is absent trom com- missioners' meetings three times in one semester. without having been excused previously. A week betore the Sonora-Oakdale tootball game, Green and Gold hats, pins, and teathers were sold by each commissioner in an ettort to create more enthusiasm tor the game. Student Body President, John Gresham. gave pep talks in sponsor meetings and assemblies. The Student Body responded whole-heartedly and it has been telt that school spirit has been unusually keen this year. The Commissioners thought that in this year ot world-wide war they should extend their sphere ot activity beyond the school. They adopted a patient at Weimar and endeavored to bring some ioy into his lite. They sponsored a sports carnival and with the money earned. purchased a 5I00.00 detense bond. Trattic Commissioner. David Brown. has done an excellent job this year in keeping the hall monitors doing their iob etticiently. He helped to work out car-parking plans which have greatly relieved trattic congestion around the school. The Student Body Commissioners have worked hard this year and teel that a great measure ot their success is due to their sponsors. Mr. Barron and Miss Parli, and to the cooperation they have received trom the entire school.
