Sonora Union High School has cooperated in the educational program of Camp Buck Meadows hy supplying a teacher for leatherworlc, woodworlc, welding, hlaclcsmithing, lettering, and sign carving. April 6, 1955, the C.C.C. was created hy Congress 1-1 Buck Meadows Camp has heen in existence since June, 1955. At pres- ent there are approximately 1500 camps. Over two million young men have heen given johs through this organization. Every three months new enrollees are talcen into the C.C.C. to talce the place of the men who have left to talce jobs or have been discharged. Each new enrollee goes through an orientation pro- gram which gives him an idea of how the camp is run and the advantages offered him in camp. Joumallsm Class

HE YEAR 17Q5 SAW THE NUMBER ot stars and stripes increased to fifteen each. This Hag was used during the War ot 1812, and in- spired Francis Scott Key's 'Star Spangled Ban- ner. Key was a prisoner on a British Man-ot- War which was shelling Fort 1VIcHenry. All night the homharctment continuecl, and when the first rays of moming tight struct: the tort, Key saw the tattered American Hag still waving. ln his joy at this sight, he scritmhlect his memorable poem on the hack of an envelope. .55
