f--W.. y Dear students of 1954 - 1955: All of you have been accustomed to living your life controlled by laws, regula- tions, and customs of one form or another. This is much to your advantage. For these things mean order and determine the American way of life which you are totally indebted to for all that you have. V Because of laws, regulations, and customs, you expect people to behave in ways you ,can depend on and in ways that are socially acceptable to others. Without these governing forces, life would be passed in disorder and confusion. t fbusiness, owning property, public These determine good practices in mat ers o education and all the things in life that affect the welfare of all people. These laws benefit the greatest number of people even though they may some- times seem inconvenient to individuals. Unlike nature's laws, man must enforce his ' f rces' otherwise they are of no value and are non-effective. Mature governing o , people understand the need for these governing forces and realize that our American way of life can prosper and grow only so long as the people observe them. I hope that all of you have matured enough to accept these facts and willingly do your part to help promote and further this democratic way of life. Sincerely, Norman S. Davis Compliments of BARNES 8: CO.
