Readers of THE BRONCOH This school annual has been prepared by the students of Sonora High School to the end that the happenings and traditions of the school year 1952-1953 will go down in the record. We all know that education is an agency of society and is basic to the preparation of Ameri- can ideals of liberty, freedom of action, and tolerance. Our school makes every attempt to provide each student the opportunity of individual devel- opment, socialization, and preparation for future development. Efforts are made to provide each student the opportunity for experience in dem- ocratic action so as to prepare him for active participation in the American society. Most sincerely, E. A. Brodhead Although I would not advocate a complete re- turn to the Good Old Days , it seems that the American heritage and American tradition was more completely a part of life in days gone by than it is now, Spiritual and moral values, in their truest and simplest form, were calmly accepted as a part of the fabric of American life. We Americans of today have lost sight of the fact that the great strength of America does not lie in our material success and wealth, nor in our productive capacity and natural resources, but in our real strength is the character of our people. Character is the quality that many people of our nations have overlooked, but it is something we must forever retain. Character is that sub- stance which causes citizens to dedicate their services to their fellow men and to the welfare of their nation. The strength of our economy, the security of our nation, and the preservations of our freedoms will be maintained only so long as our characters remain high. -----Norman S. Davis
