It is the fervent hope of the parent, church, and school that each individual will grow to his fullest potential. This realiza- tion is not only a necessity to the continuance of our demo- cratic society, but is also vital to the health and welfare of each individual. The tremendous growth and impact of science on our lives, has made it mandatory for us to grow socially and spiritually at a much accelerated rate. This is the challenge to all of us. Your theme could not have been more appropriate. John L. Determination matched with hard work. made it possible for both MAN and BU teams to again acquire a first place pennant. The HC tracksters came close to making the season completely suc- cessful. With the return of many experienced lettermen, including quite a few outstanding performers TRACK lcontinuedl there is painted another successful picture. The E1 Padre will he meeting the presses hy the time Sonoma,s track team first encounters its future foes, so only the expected can he predicted. Varsity Baseball As always haseliall season will not have gotten into full swing when the El Padre goes to press. However last year,s Dragons horsehlders tied for championship and with many of the same squad returning Sonoma shows promise of battling toward the top of the league, possibly for an undisputed league crown forthe '57 season. Coach Shatto's team will be all out to avenge '56,s freak loss to San Rafael this year as well as to win practice encounters with strong San Francisco opponents. The team looks good in all departments and promises to be tough for everybody. 'If' First row, left to right: L. Biggs, P. Erickson, G. Brown, P. Dennis, R. Diekman, B. Helliwell, A. Jennings. Tennis Tennis is a sport where experience is almost a necessity for success. lt d l khand takes considerable time to develop a winning service, forehan or Jac , and time will he ofthe essence to this YCHIJS netmen. Last year's team finished in fourth lace and all hut two players are returning although as must me P expected the outlook is poor this season, there are no seniors on a team that will be building for future accomplishments. lt may he that this team will be able to make up this year. for what they lack in experience, with enthusiasm. The El Padre, by the time it,s off to the presses, will not have witnessed any matches of Coach Clarlis squad. First row, left to right: D. Lantz, B. Caton, B. Morgantini, R. This season finds a bunch of seasoned veterans who should be up near the top when the competition is finally completed. Sonoma's divot diggers wound up with a five win -three loss record in their season last year. Finish- ing in a tie for second place, the Dragon golfers vied with such schools as Santa Rosa, Vallejo, and Tamalpias. Always respected, Sonoma should again have excellent success on the fairways.
