Gomez, President, E. Duncan, Vice President. The Seniors have seen many changes in the campus since that day in T952 when they entered High School. The addition of shop and home ec buildings, a locker-exercise room, and the recent construction on the new gym and class- rooms have transformed the school they knew as Freshmen. The class of '56 will take many memories with them but perhaps none so vivid as those of their senior year. The dances, especially their own Christmas dance, Skip Day and Dress Day, the Prom, the banquet, and the long awaited graduation, will make '55-56 an unforgettable year for the Seniors. M. Audiss, B. Originally it was known as Las Salenitas and was limited to students studying Spanish. In '54, to meet the expansion of the language department, it became the Foreign Language Club, now including all language students maintaining a C average. In cooperation with the Curtis Publishing Company, the club sponsored a magazine drive receiving a commission on all subscriptions. This project was very profitable and made possible many ot the Club's extracurricular activities. CAMERA CLUB The Camera Club is a newly organized club this year. Under the leadership ot Mr. Heppe, Advisor, and Vern Cummings, President, this club has started well on its way to its goal of learning about cameras and the techniques of photography. The California Scholarship Federation is the highest honor society in the State. The high scholastic requirements make C.S.F. membership a goal to be proud of. C.S.F. has many activities, but the high spot is the annual spring field trip to the University of California. C.S.F. organizations throughout the central part of the state attend this High School Day when the University entertains the stu- dents and conducts guided tours through the various educational departments. Honor S is primarily a social club for students maintaining a 2 point or B average. As both C.S.F. and Honor S are honor societies, they are closely as- sociated and have many cooperating activities. The Honor S initiation in the fall is followed by potluck suppers, parties, and a picnic in the spring. HONOR S My my , 0,w,-nm ,,,W,,,,,,MW,,m,,,,,,,,,,,.,,..,,...,-H. . They were the largest squad in number in the history of the school, also the squad was built around the fewest lettermen and experienced players in the history of Sonoma Hi. So perhaps what they lacked in quality and experience, they made up for it in quantity. The coaches felt the team worked hard to make themselves a dan- gerous team, but just weren't consistent enough to win against tough compe- tition. The number of games won and lost is always used to determine the success of the season, but this is not always correct. The coaches felt we were in every game and felt the team put out its best effort. All had fun and could have prac- ticed and played another two weeks longer. Coach George Koche's Mighty' Mites of the court won all but one of their league games and lost but one of their practice games, that being to a taller and more experienced Santa Rosa team. The average percentage of shots made out of shots attempted for the six league games was thirty-nine percent which is exceptional shooting for any team, Mr. Koche was very pleased with the squad improvement, their desire to learn and excel, and most important, their team spirit. This year's Dragon squad seemed to be well supplied with talent and was expected to make a strong bid for the Section ll championship, following in the footsteps of the 1955 squad which finished in second place. Five returning lettermen graced the squad, Danny Taylor, Dave Dixon, Dave Ashworth, Joey Cossins, and Tommy Glover. No team has been selected at press time but the T956 lettermen would come from the following candidates. Pitchers: Dave Dixon and John Flachman, backed by Howie Martin, Earl Medieros, Angelo Becerra, and Harold Shipman. Catchers: All-League Tommy Glover backed by Charlie McClearn, Dave Bruno, and Jerry Jennings. First Base: Herb Owen, Bruce Jackson, and Bob Becerra. Other infield positions: Danny Taylor, Dave Ashworth, Joey Cossins, Gino Del Chiaro, backed by Bob Molesworth and Ed Voss. Outfield: Lee Schmidt, Tommy Wegg, Richard Van Benton, Garnet Hyde, Jim Haver, Andy Tommassi, and Ken Hall. Prior to the league games our team was to play a tough practice schedule, including such powerhouses as Napa, Santa Rosa, Valleio, and the San Francisco champions, Sacred Heart. Coach Ted Shatto was optimistic about our prospects. ln addition to the varsity games, our JV squad, the redoubtable Puppy League, was to play St. Helena, Santa Rosa, and Napa. The Puppy League had its own coach this year, Mr. Ernie Richter. - , ,N 6 . .gn 'iq S Wi,-Xg,1 Q4 o-A., . , ..- . 1 v ' x. 1 . .41 - 'fdmgk WU ' ,Lg X V. . , x .fqrsfffb ' ,vi-I , . fx'- Q -1 -, -. -x . GOLF The largest turnout ot golf candidates in year previous this years golf season. The total stands at 17 with many ot the divot-diggers being inexperienced boys but willing to learn. The sole returning letterman is Junior Murvin Burtson and he is accompanied by 3 or A returning non-Iettermen. Coach Walt Johnson says that all ot the candidates seem eager and willing to learn. Many ot the boys are showing surprising progress tor the amount ot ex- perience they have had. Coach Johnson thinks with only one returning letterman the hopes tor another championship this year look slim but with the enthusiasm and progress the boys show they may make a better account for themselves. Eleven matches are scheduled tor this season eight being league matches and the remaining three practice matches. T. Meyers, R. Radovic, R. Schwartzer, M. Burtson, B. Morgantini, A.
