enior C (a65 The closs of 1952 entered S. H. S. on September 9, 1949 with o strong determinotion to moke o nome for itself. It did just ihot, too, for during the first two quorters, thirty-six Sophomores mode moximum credit and two hundred and sixty mode credit. We not only put ourselves on top in scholarship, but we olso mode contributions to the various clubs and athletic teams. Dick Skeffington received a letter for basketball; John McDonnell, for hockey; Hal O'Brien for track. Joan Crockett was the winner of the Annuol Spelling Bee. With Robert Brown, Doro Vigoroso, Audrey Peterson, and Richard Mangan on our Sophomore Executive Committee, we couldn't help but leod the woy. As spirited Juniors, '52 continued to be o credit to S. H. S. 8orbora Reid's mognificcnt dancing enabled her to join the famed Rockcttcs for the summer. Sharing the limelight n basketball were Dick Skeffington, Worren Cooper, and Bcb Fasciano; in football, hord-hitting Dick Boldacci, Ed Reovis, ond Bill Buchan; while John McDonald, Bob Brown, and Dick Hen- shaw helped leod the bosketboll team to the State Championship. Due to the cooperation of our Junior Night Committee, Margery Whelan, Esther Foster, Anthony Kounelos. Anthony Pocoro, and Nicholos Kilodis, our Prom wos o success. The Sophomore Executive Committee wos re-elected os our Junior Closs Officers. Virginia Humber was winner of the Annual Spelling Bee. Competing with seniors from other high schools in Greater Boston, Mary Drougas piaced first in the Red Feather Oratorical contest. Our football seoson wos highlighted by our boys, led by Co-Coptoins Ed Reovis ond Bill Buchon, who showed greot spirit ond sportsmonship. Three Seniors who lent their talents to the track tcorn were Dick Gongi, John Mclnernoy, and Bob Swan. The basketball team led by Captain Dick Skeffington had o very successful year, ond because of their fine work, were invited to the Tech Tourney for the thirteenth time. Our greot spirited team went through to the finals of the Tech ond were defeated by a hord fighting Durfcc tcom. Dick Skeffington ond Richard Hcnshow were selected for the Greater Boston all-star team. The other outstanding players from the Senior Closs were Warren Cooper, Bob Fosciono, Bob Roymond, Ed Moyer, George Price, Leo Morino, and Cosmo Capo- bianco. Our closs ploy Off the Track was enjoyed by oil who attended the performance. Thereso Fucillo was the winner of the Annual Spelling Bee. In April, our Senior Night Committee wos elected, which was composed of Catherine Brown, Anthony Porcaro, Joan Borrctt, Francis Poiva, ond Harold O'Brien. With the aid of tnis group we prepared for our big night. May 28. Soft light, shimmering stardust, fine music, and laughing couples mode up our last big social. The committee we selected to prepore for Class Doy was composed of Rachel Ferrari, Irene Kacomburos, Cosmo Copobionco, and Nick Marinokis. Then come the big day, June 6, 1952, a day which will live on for many o year in the hearts of all of us. The girls dressed in white, the boys in their best suits, and all with our purple ond white cops made o hoppy spectacle os we morched into the ouditorium for the last time. On Graduation Night, the final meeting of the Class of '52 wos held ot Tufts Ovol. Here we were presented with our diplomos which symbolized the end of our high school days. — 16 —
