IJXC, .2x.,JisifM fy fb Jil .. C? ,,,,.f THE FORUM One of the most active and loquacious groups in the high school is the Forum, afiiliated with the National Forensic League. Members of this organization are taught to formulate opinions, support their arguements, and influence audiences in their favor. Debating provides excellent experience in research and public speaking. In addition to inter-class debates, Forum members partici- pated in numerous tournaments, appeared on TV Panels, took part in the state-wide public speaking contest, and pre- sented programs for school and civic audiences. The teams are coached by Charles L. Doyle, who has received acclaim throughout New jersey for the excellence of the Somerville Tourney which othcially opened the Forensic League Season. HONOR SOCIETY One of the most outstanding organizations in Somerville High School is the Honor Society. Membership in this organization is the highest honor a student can receive. Students are admitted on the basis of excellence in scholastic Helds, service to the school, leadership, and character. Twice during the school year, an impressive candle light induction ceremony is held. At the first, only seniors are admitted, and at the second, juniors, as well as a number of seniors, become members. Miss Ethel Lux serves as adviser to this branch of the National Honor Society. PUBLICITY Instrumental in keeping the townspeople well-informed about school happenings, the Publicity group supplied four local papers with school news once a week. The reporters, aided by Miss Feeley and Mr. Kunzman, have made this newly-formed organization one which has served both school and town well. 0lfUflCL
