Grade Elght Grade Nlne Grade Ten Grade Eleven Grade Twelve Here our home room teacher was Mr Ray Smder the coach We were all fnghtenecl to death of the Eighth Grade Test untll we took xt In thls Beverly Brown took flrst place second was Catherme G11ff1th Here we were really m h1gh school As Freshmen ln hxgh we were Jomed by nme students from Madlson Rural Grade School They were Clyde Allen Mary Allen Ralph Bauserman Mar11yn Bellvxlle Wllma Brown Paul Drumm Juanxta Ensmxnger Kathryn Flynn and Wzlllam Hammer We also added Belva Wood from Indiana and Carl Pangle from Delta Ohio We managed to lxve through Freshman mxtxatxon and tell the tale In our Sophomore year we xnxtmated our underclassmen by treatmg them to a dance and party 1n the home econommcs room Our eleventh year was a busy one We gave our fxrst play Meet Me In St Loums Our able d1rector was Mr Harry B Ashburn J Then came the blg Job of Junlor Sen1or Banquet and Prom We decorated the gymnaslum wlth a Dutch theme We began our Sen1or year w1th twenty two students In the course of the year Roger Clum dropped out to work Dorls Fosnaugh and Kathryn Flynn left our class to marry Our Senior play Cheaper By The Dozen was dlrected by Mr Edgar B Kellar Of the nlneteen ln the class at graduatxon there are only three gxrls and four boys that started m the flrst grade of Somerset Public School together m 1939 Our commencement was Tuesday May the twenty second wlth the Baccalaureate on Sunday May twent1eth Our Valedxctorxan was M1ss Beryl Warne and our Salutatorlan was M155 Marilyn Lou Bellv1lle Soon after our graduatlon we left for Washxngton and New York City on our Semor Trxp We have worked at many thmgs to raxse the money for our trap We sold candy at noon ln the llbrary gathered up scrap mron had bake sales and square dances And finally reached our goal of a fxne trip We were chaperoned by Mr Harry G Wallar our class adv1sor and Mrs Helen Young 21 . Class History Grade Grade Grade Grade Grade Grade Grade One We started with thirty students in the year 1939 our teacher was Miss Florence Hannah We enjoyed such extra actwxtxes as toy band Two Here we had twenty three in our class Our teacher was now Mxss Mary Helser This year we had an operetta at Easter time Three In our thxrd year we had as our teacher Miss Ruth Spangler We Joined in wxth the other fwe grades to put on another operetta Five Thus year our class was divided due to the lack of classrooms One half of our class was taught by Miss Hennmg in the same room with the fourth grade while the other half was taught by Mrs Julia Snider wlth the sixth grade Six We were reumted under the supervision of Mrs Smder Seven We thought we were big now that we had moved to the top floor with the high school We even had some of the high school teachers as our own Our home room teacher was Miss Josephme Bay Z0 Four: This year we were taught by Miss Edith Henning.
