' Z0 ' 20 1 6 ' 20 113 Z0 80 15 75 17 30 16 Z1 9 9 6 6 , Z 6 8 1 43 HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS Sharon Ent: Joanne Sc-slum Esther Gilmore Mary Allen JUNIOR HIGH CHEERLEADERS .lame Hlnes Rebecca Hoops Nancy Crabtree Shu-Icy Folk Anna Lee Garey I unior High Basketball Team FRONT ROW Lee Wiseman Donald Bryan Bobby Rusler Donald Matheney Cookxe SECOND ROW Davud Curry Donald Ream Mr Ashburn Coach Carlos Hamilton Freddle May Eddxe Collxer 45 Shumaker, Roger Rardin, Jerry Carey, Ronnie Williams, Dick Stalter County Tournament On February 15 1951 the Raiders topped McLuney 76 59 in the first game the 1951 Perry County Tournament The Raiders had easy going the first quarter and when it was over the Raiders were on top 19 9 In the second quarter the two teams played on even terms with each team scoring 19 points The second quarter ended 38 Z8 ln the third quarter McLuney was not to be denied for they started hitting their long shots to come up to wxthln 5 points of catching Somerset And when the quarter ended McLuney was only 8 points behind for a score of 51 48 In the last quarter Somerset poured it on to score ZZ points to Mclsuney s The second five players of Somerset played most of the last quarter Householder led the Raiders with Z6 points Hammer had 17 On February 19 Corning defeated the Raiders in one of the most thrilling games of the 1951 Perry County Tournament The first quarter opened with Corning making the first 3 points but Drumm and Householder made two quick ones to put Somerset ahead The lead seesawed back and forth until it ended 19 17 in favor of the Railroaders The Raiders dropped behind as much as 5 points in the second quarter but was refused to be counted out and when the half ended the Railroaders had a one point lead The Raiders were behind by 1 points early 1n the third quarter but came back to tie the score at 0 -10 with two quick Jump shots by Householder The Railroaders run the score to 52 47 but the Raiders cut the lead to two points by the end of the third quarter which ended at 5 52 With only seconds gone in the fourth quarter Drumm tled the score at 57 57 Then Horn scored for Corning Hammer then sunk a fielder to tie the score at 59 59 Garrison then made it 61 59 but Hammer made it 61 61 The Railroaders made it 66 61 and again Hammer sank another long shot to end Somerset's scoring Householder and Hammer fouled out with only seconds left to go Roof then ended the game with 70 points stacked up to Corn1ng's credit The Raiders although eliminated from the tournament gave Corning one of the roughest battles they had had all year During the game Allen s speed broke up many of Corn1ng's fast breaks for which they were noted Householder led the scoring for Somerset wlth 16 points while Drumm and Allen had 13 each Hammer 12 and Melick 10 Final score 70 64 46 I I . . - . . of , ' ' ' 11. much the same as the first quarter.
