_. SOMERSET PUBLIC LIBRARY STTM preft f■ - - c Somerset Jltyh School Somerset, Massachusetts Decficaiion Mr. Arthur Campbell, a sometimes overlooked member of the high school, is actually one of the basic reasons for the school’s success and prosperity. Although at times Mr. Campbell’s job is passed off as a mere matter of fact, there is really no one more deserving of commendation than he. As a small gesture of appreciation, the gradu¬ ating class of 1965 unanimously dedicates Memoirs 1965 to Mr. Arthur Campbell. JKr. Gl ' i iur Gampfjeff 3 1965 UTemoir.s Stajjf Advisor MR. Unusual as it may seem, Somerset’s girls’ ath¬ letics are on the same competitive level as the boys’ athletics. Although the girls did not win the cham¬ pionship this year (1964), they ranked third in the league. CAPTAIN CAROLYN HILL 4 E V BACK ROW: S. Curt, C. Brisbon, P. Hunt, K. Goodwin, S. Goff, P. Pictured below, Mr. Simpson listens as Jane Thibault, Memoirs Editor 1964, delivers the dedication. 35 7 Venetian Uisia The 1964 Junior-Senior Prom was the most successful prom to date, both financially and socially. Over five hundred people were in attendance at this gala affair. Unfortunately, we are unable to display tlje full splendor of the occasion as all of the candids taken before and during the actual celebration were accidentally destroyed in the processing laboratory. Joe Silva, Graduation Marshal, chats with Seniors before the ceremony. (jracfualion It is almost impossible to express in words the mixed emotions of a graduating class. However, we hope that these pictures have captured some of the typical moods of a graduation night. The team, led by Tri-Captains Joe Sil¬ va, Lionel Rousseau, and Dave Smith, gained a lot of valuable experience despite a 3-6 record. BRISTOL COUNTY CHAMPIONS The Somerset High Raiderettes have cap¬ tured many athletic trophies throughout previous years, but this is the first year that they have won the Bristol County Girls’ Basketball Championship. This hard working team was under the leadership of Co-Captains Dolores Fitzpatrick and Dorene Menezes, along with the following seniors: Marilyn Curt, Pauline DeMello, Nancy Fin¬ ney, Nancy McGuire, and Elaine Soares; all have had four years of experience on this team. Without the skillful coaching of Miss Frances Corcoran and the outstanding participation of the remaining varsity, we as a team feel we would have encountered greater difficulty in obtaining the Bristol County League Crown. Congratulations coach and girls! acuj ■flu — (Jars, S ame A much anticipated event by the students, the faculty, and the townspeople is the annual Faculty-Varsity game sponsored by the Somerset Teachers Association to raise scholarship funds. A record crowd of over 700 spectators enjoyed the spirited antics on the court. This year the students won by a score of 70-67. This was accomplished in the last few seconds of the exciting game. As a re¬ ward for their efforts and the efforts of the group in the picture below (which brought in the most money, $98.00), it was decided to let these groups take a fun picture of their division to put in the yearbook. The class total for the campaign was $400.00! This is an all-time-high which sur¬ passed last year’s record of $336.00.
