Although rn-any CFCW- members, sweating over pro- jectiles and powder canisters during an ammo UNREP probably have wished at one time or another that WG divi- sion didn't exist, the Gunner's Mates and Fire Control Technicians iGunneryJ nevertheless contribute a great deal to SOMERS ability to carry out her mission. WG divi- sion maintains our 5754 gun mount, the MK 68 director, the computer in Gun Plot, and other related equipment. Dur' ing our gunline assignments this WG DIVISIO cruise, the GM's work was dt-linitcly cut out for them as they labored to keep our can- tankerous mount in commis- sion. The l 'l'G's work showed in SOMERS ability to always land her first salvo quite close to the target. Our superb fire control showed up particularly on a mission when the first two rounds landed directly on target. requiring no correcting Spots. As our record attests, the men ol' WG division have a great deal to be proud of.
