G U 1 I' SOLVAY HIGH SCHOOL SOLVAV NEW YORK rv 1-ffx Q TTWILEGEND OF Many moons ago, my son, a great Longhouse, o'erlooking the waters of Onondaga was built for Wislako, Guardian of Wisdom and Learning. Here in this mighty Longhouse gathered the sons and the daughters of the Solvay Confederacy. I, Big Bearcat, was among the many who dwelled here. You, too, Little Bearkitten, will soon tread the same paths as did your elders. I will tell you the legend of my own Great Adventure, of the wise prophets, of my fellow braves and squaws, of the pow wows and the contests of our warriors which filled the days till I ventured into new hunting grounds. Listen carefully for the words I speak tell of the journey you will soon begin. Come, Little Bearkitten, follow me. XVe cannot help but remember the noble work done by the Preseryers ol Great Wisrlcuni, flleading Class Councilj, Their efforts helped many braxes to turn from the sorrow ol' the tomahawks to the wisdom of the book. Their honorable code of enlightenment through reading was passed on to many of us in search of knowledge and peaceful enjoyment. XVe were also proud of the unselfish work done by the members of the junior Patchem Uppers fjunior Red Crossj. They donated their time to help members of other tribes who were in need and strengthened the respect held for us in the High Council of our neighbors. Noble Order of the Helping Hands KEY CLUB The leading braves of the Longhouse organized the Noble Order of the Helping Hands. They provide good example for the other braves and help in many worthy projects throughout the Confederacy. They are the children of the Father Kiwanis, son of the International. The braves attempt to raise much wampum by holding tribal dances and barbecues. Often the Wampum they make is used to aid in a cause which has been brought to the attention of their wily big Chief Mud-in-the-face-Litz. One of their number, an officer in the New York State Con- federacy, Warrior DeCarlo, is state keeper of the records. FIRST ROW: Mr. Blasi, Advisor: J. Pfau, Vice President: B. Coon, Secretary, G.
