On August 31, 1952, 62 shaky Green Freshmen stomped down the halls of S.H.S. to get their first view of being in High School. We elected Ted Miller as our sponsor, Mr, Miller did all he could to gain our friendship and to help us get started in high school. Tolead our class we chose as officers: President, Sandy Fowler: Vice-President, Jimmy Corlettg Secretary, Betty Jo Michael and Treasurer, Joann Crowe, One of our most thrilling adventures was the initiation party the Sophomores had for us, we all had lots of fun and tho we were all painted up, we returned to school the next day as full pledged Freshmen. Our Sophomore year we returned feeling we were a little nearer our goal. We were very sorry to lose 6 of our members who were: Verda Baines, Louise Burch, Durward Freeman, Earl Parker, Jim Corlett and Phillip Holtsclaw, We chose Mrs. Barnard as our sponsor and class officers were: President, Wallace Mc.Kinleyg Vice-President, Barbara Glidden: Secretary, Betty Jo Michaelg and Treasurer, Donnie Stanger. Our Junior year was a very thrilling year, tho we felt we had many responsi- bilities we were happy to have the privilege of being called Jolly Juniors, We were all thrilled at the thought of putting on our first play which was called, Grandma's Best YearS. We chose Bob Wright as our sponsor and Paul Ellis as our Co-Sponsor, they did all they could to see that our play was a success and to raise money for our class. Our class officers were: President, Bob Ledgerwood: Vice-President, Jimmy Goadg Secretary, Carol Doane: and Treasurer, Sandy Fowler. We enjoyed giving the seniors a reception at Skyland Lodge. We were sorry to lose 7 more of our class- mates who were: Judy Riley, Dorothy Williams, Judy Hoff, Joann Hoff, Rex Watkins, Cynthia Kincade, and June Freeman. Our last and final year we return to school feeling very high in spirit. We are now Dignified Seniors. We chose as our sponsors: Mr, McCoy and Mr. Wright who we have enjoyed having work with us, we are looking forward to our senior play and many others thrills before graduation. We chose as our class officers: President, Bob Ledgerwoodg Vice-President, Bennie Lindsey: Secretary, Jeanetta Sher row: and Treasurer, Sandy Fowler, We have lost one more member, Carol Mc Murry but have gained a new member, George Mc Coy which leaves our class with 36 members for graduation. As graduation time draws nearer we think of leaving old S. H. S. but we take with us many, many happy memories. B06 L, 'Q'- img 4 F. 7 WRX x - - ,g.,A.wX,,kgA,N .. x ' Y XXY-gwgs. Bridget, the comical Irish housekeeper warns all to leave, for anybody who remains all night in Creepy Castle--DIES LAUGHINGI The heirs refuse to budge--and then ghastly things start happening. The place is fairly jittered with spooks--including a phantom cat, Portraits sob real salt tearsl Typewriters are manipulated by invisible hands. The ghost-girl gurges and groans. The devil-monster clanks his chains! Some- body DIES LAUGHINGI And at the end we learn not a soul is actually murdered--it's all a hoax which is being played on a Certain Party to cure a phobia, and how that Certain Party turns the tables on his tormentors will leave the audience in stitches. We want to thank our teachers and Sponsors who helped us present our play which was given April 20, 1956, ' Hlfmplizcy, We the juniors of 1956 are looking into our magic spy glass. Lo! and Behold! We see one of the 1956 Seniors of S.H.S. Why it's none other than our lovable Sandy Fowler. She is a Home Economics Teacher at l.U. It looks like she is teaching a group of girls to make spaghetti and meat balls. Good Luck Sandy! Now we come to a group of bathing beauties. WELL! It is Kay Cullison as Miss Alabamag Barbara Glidden as Miss Miami Beach, Freda Ringo as Miss Indiana: Carol Ann Doane as Miss Californiag and Rebecca Mc Combs as Miss Kentucky. We don't know where the rest of the states are. Guess that when they saw those girls they decided that it would be useless for them to run! We think so too. Guess who the judges are? None other than Ronald and Rodney Campbell! Birds of a feather flock together. Now our spy glass is turned toward the circus, There is the strong man, Donnie Stanger, trying to lift the fat lady, Betty Jo Michael, which looks impossible. Look! There's Joann Crowe, the new Mary Heartline, leading the circus band. Wallace McKinley the lion-tamer had better keep his eyes on the lions instead of the band leader. We must leave the circus now totravel on to a swanky hotel in New York City, The Emporium The manager, Bob Ledgerwood, seems to be scolding the cook, Clifford Unger, for tasting too much of his soup. It looks like there isn't any left for George Mc Coy, who has taken George Gobel's place, We hate to leave the hotel, but we must travel on to the outskirts of town. Here we see a great neon light, which reads, Lonely Hearts Club, This we must look into! We see Freida Spinks reading her fan mail. She's the owner of this famous club. It seems like Wayne Workman and Clifford Porter are two of her favorite correspondents. Well! Well! What have we here? We are nearing Arthur Murray's Dance School where Carolyn Arthur and Carolyn Skinner are giving mambo lessons to Dave Walters. Watch your toes, girls. We'll move our spy glass now to Hollywood, California. What's this! Dean Workman's Deluxe Hollywood Straight Pipe, Corp.! Dean didn't you know that Jimmy Goad was the cop in your neighborhood? Look out or He'll check your mufflers. We're moving our spy glass now to the baseball park. The famous Solsberry Hornets 'Women's Baseball Team which is now playing a game with the University of Hollywood. The pitcher is none other than Sara Jane Hayes, Guess she got a lot of practice in High School, when she was throwing erasers at Betty Allen. Betty is the catcher on this famous team. In the crowd are two people who aren't paying too much attention to the game. The boy is holding the girl's hand, We'll get closer with our spy glass and see who it is, Why! My stars.' lt's Bennie Lindsey and Betty Lou Michael. The famous Solsberry Band is now playing on the field. Kathryn Strauser is the Majorette, but what a uniform! It looks like a Bikini bathing suit. were adjusting our spy glass to show on the drive-in now. Joyce Benham and Russell Hamm are sitting in the back row with their six children, Jerry Abrams, the drive-in owner, made them sit in the back row with their kids because they were so noisy that the surrounding people cfuld not concentrate on the movie which is starring Jeanetta Sherrow and co-starring Shirley Gardner. Now, we hear the pop-corn boy shouting, popcorn! cracker-jacksl My, that's awful loud! Let's go closer and see who it is. Believe it or not it is our dignified Mr. McCoy! We're going to leave the drive-in now and drop in on the Bob Cumming's Studio. Guess who the private secretary is ? None other than Carolyn Abram. Do you suppose she could be his new flame ? It's anybodys guess. We'll leave Hollywood now and travel back todear old Indiana. Well the Hurryin Hoosiers are playing Purdue University. This is pretty bad because Viola Cox and Irene Livingston are yell leaders for Indiana University and Bob Wright is a professor at Purdue. They are against each other. Cas usualj Now we must put our magic spy glass away, We've had a very pleasant day, Maybe we can do it again some time if you all want to. All right?
