A nation is made up of individuals, If the individual is corrupt, the nation becomes weakened. You, the graduating class of 1966, are few in number, yet your influence for good or bad extends further than you think. Make up your mind that no one will ever be able to point the finger of scorn or accusation at you, that you will be such a person as your parents, school, town, and eventually, your children will be proud to know. i Our scientists today are doing things that only a few years ago we would have con1- T sidered possible only in science fiction. They are on the verge of creating living , organisms, and in only a very few years, they expect to land a man on the moon. Just recently they have found means of changing the genes that determine heredity so that tomori-0w's generations will be more intelligent than today's, They will 1 also be able to increase the ability to remember facts. This is good because man's T knowledge is expanding at an astounding rate, and future generations will need more intellectual capability to learn and understand. It is probable that in the near future the professional man will need to return to the campus periodically to update his H knowledge, But let us not, in the scramble for knowledge, for scientific advancement, for ma- terial wealth, forget moral values. Our country was founded principally because of the desire for religious freedom, We must, parents and teachers and ministers, make sure that our future generations do not forget their heritage, and that a coun- try founded under God does not become Godless. 3
