oday, more than ever in our rapidly growing world, there is no limit to the number of unexplored fields in which an ambitious youth may delve. Medicine, mathematics, politics, education--any one of these may be adapted to suit one's individual desires and abilities. As we leave our high-school days behind us to enter these business, social, and professional careers, the realization that we have not yet dipped deeply into life's great cup of knowledge is overwhelming. We are yet but children in the arms of our Protector, being led through the first great step in our education. We have become acquainted with the history of our country and world, we have dabbled into the fields of science, chemistry and physics, we have obtained a triflefof information about the creative arts through our study of English, we have been faced with some of the problems which have stumped our greatest mathematicians through the applicatiion of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry, yes, we have but scratched the surface. There is yet much to be desired in the way of experience and skill. But it does no good to sit back and wish for great knowledge, or to review what information has been acquired thus far. Anything worth having is worth working for. As we graduate from Solon High School, we are aware of this factg and thusly, we will pursue our varied careers by entering colleges or commercial schools, by securing jobs in the highly industrialized manufac- turing centers of our time, and by becoming successful citizens, wherever we may reside in this great wide world. We may never have a graduate of our class reach the office of President or even become a governor. We may never ascend the stairs to fame in the Held of medicine, politics or educa- tion, yet each one will be able to mould the world into a more perfect place for his having lived. Each member will become aware of his capabilities and will realize the opportunities for advance- ment which are his for the asking. Each one will know that no goal can be reached without much preparation, patience, and pursuance. With this knowledge, may each graduate see his accomplishments, realize how much more there is to seek, and remember the words of our motto, Aim at the Highest, There is always room at the top. DAWN ANDREWS, Editor-in-Chief 2
