LIFE AT SOLDAN Initiating each school day is the advisory period, a small but vital part of the students' life. The advisor's door opens promptly at 8:40 a.m. During this time, attendance pro- grams, absence notes, early dismissals, and other forms relative to the individual are processed. The advisee is informed about scheduled events, both curricular and extra-curricular. He is aided in working out the problems by an interested advisor, and is encouraged to do his best in representing his advisory group in the school. As a tempering influence, the advisory en- ables students to adjust to the educational atmosphere before classes commence. After visiting with friends and reviewing last night's homework, the advisory period is over at 9:00 a.m. The advisee begins his class day. The student then moves from class to class until it is time for lunch. There are many dif- ferent classes which the student may take on these periods before lunch, such as classes in the fields of science, mathematics, history, physical education, English, foreign lan- guagesiand practical arts. Usually by his lunch period, the student is quite eager to eat, meet and talk with friends in the auditorium and lower hall area, and perhaps catch up on some of his studying or homework. After lunch the student resumes his vari- ous classes. The student continues through these classes until the end of his active day. This is a day in the life of a student of Soldan. l 2
