r it The Music of the Spheres NE within another, the turning spheres of Time , 5 59 Give forth their wondrous music attuned to ears sublimeg ' 5,3 ' f , Like a taut harp gently fingered by a saddened errant breeze ef , melodies 3 l Which veils the tears that drench its soul with mists of Like the chimes of dim cathedrals which, half-heard, are unbelievedg Like sorrow's fountain flowing from the heart of some nymph grieved :- So with harmony ineffable, thrice three, each heaven turns And turning, strokes with ghostly hands the Lyre, which brighter burns At that caress of vibrant chords, and stirs the stars to march In Order's loveliness across high heaven's ebon arch. Stately roses rear their heads High above their lowly beds, Yellow, red, pink and white- Beauty rare to earthly sight: Swayed by breezes to and fro, Climbing roses drop below Covering nature's verdant breast, As silken petals come to rest: Crouched beneath the grasses green Pink moss roses, hardly seen. Spread their lovely fragrance to Bees who sip the morning dew: White heralders of bridals gay Hold their buds inrproud display:- These and many blossoms more Blanket earth's soft dewey Hoor. The jungle f 6 ?, LEEK bodies slink in dim green light .g Tangles, marshes, paths unknown H, To man, but to the beasts alone Who daily there do make their way A To Water, or at break of day, In shadowy silence stalk their prey. Of the jung1e's breathless night i' I Then the sun, in splendour born, Heralds the approach of morn, And forms a network through the trees Of dancing Figures, as the breeze Moves verdant leafage to and fro, While through the branches high and low Some chattering monkey, here, then gone, Shatters the silence of the dawn. Anon a tropic deluge breaks In sudden fury, and it makes A quelled world, and everything Shrinks 'neath the wrath of Fierce storm king. Then quickly as it had begun, The tempest ceases, and the sun Shines forth upon a dripping world Like a Hag of truce unfurled. More fiercely come Apollo's beams, And the humid jungle teems With busy life as each wild thing Pursues his way on foot or wing, Thus till night drops like a pall, And spreads jet darkness over all.
