Audio-Visual Dept Two .7Ae 1951 Qefdcfor published by the students of Soldcm-Blewett High School Saint Louis, Missouri Volume III Presented by the Reflector Stolff Harold Roth, Editor Three Four Ctl'I'l0l in 0 It As we look back upon our pleasant high school career, we cannot help but realize that our parents, in appreciaf tion of our lofty airris to better ourselves, have rnade possible this furtherance of our education, ln fact throughout our entire education, they have aided, enf couraged, and counseled us, enabling us to realize the full value of this pur- suit of knowledge. With loving care they have unselfishly done their utmost in order that We, their children, be bet- ter eguipped to handle lifes problems in the future generation that will be ours, li is this desire to give to their sons and daughters those opportunities that they perhaps were not fortunate enough to have, which causes us to loci: with filial lcve and devotion upon the mainstay of our lives our parents Thus it is only fitting that liairzibly dedicate this yearbook as a small token of cur apprecidticn tc cur parents whose fervent '.-flsig for ir Success will be fulfilled. FUHEWUIHI During the past months, the Reflector staff has been busy preparing the l95l Reflector for press. Each section has been combined into a publication that we hope will truly reflect the activities of the past year. We have attempted to make this edition one that will be of interest to everyone and depict a more accurate crossfsection of the student body. Much work is entailed in the production of such a publication, possibly more than many realize. ln the fall term the staff is selected from among the students and the planning of the book begins. Different duties are assigned to the staff members thought best qualified for them. Picture schedules are arranged, layouts and cover design selected, paper and printing styles chosen, and all the other details neces- sary for a fine publication ironed out. VVith the coming of spring the actual produc tion begins. Editorial copy is written, edited, set up by the printer, proof-read and duinmv sheets returned to the printer. It has a very capable sponsor, Miss Thym, Realizing that enjoyment and relax- ation are necessary for the fullest appreciation of school life, the Boys' Glee Club attempts to fulfill these requirements. Many boys who join know little about music, but after a few terms they become fine singers. The boys agree that they acquire a finer sense of music appreciation through their study of music. The Concert Band meets daily in the IA period. Every member of the band is also a member of the Band Advisory. The student assistant director, Ierry Rosenblum, has been very active and helpful in building a good organization. When there is need for an orchestra, the strings from the intermediate group combine with part of the band, The instrumental director, R. D. MONEY TALKS g0l a 3,,fff7.,,m ,JJEJP During the second period each morning, a group composed of students from each advisory group and under the sponsorship of Miss McDermott meets in room 2ll to transact a part of the financial business of the school. This group is known as Agora, which is the Greek word for meeting place. As can easily be seen the name is very proper because room Zll serves as a meeting place for the student representatives to transact their business. The Agora representatives sell the Spotlight and Reflector as well as various athletic tickets, and receipts are turned in during their daily meeting. To simplify the collections, the group is divided into ten teams, each of which is headed by a captain. The members of each team turn in their money to their captain, who in turn de- posits it with the tellers. wjtw ttffl, Wai V rj osen a yle Schaller U lauf Saiger Alper, Payeur, M., Brasch, Kidder, Schneider, Furfine.
