The air is heav) , suffoca- ting, like some great, pressing weight. A terrible cloud hangs looming over us, we are spinning round and round in a haze. Thoughts rattle through our heads like loose puzzle pieces. Reaching out, we try to grasp, to gel a hold on something, to make it all click into place, but nothing fits. . O f.. ' t; :): ' i4 Why are we so flustered? Vh can ' t we cope? Life was not always like this, so congested, so full of pressure and pain. There was a time when life was worth living. What ha e we lost? What are we looking for? Where is the ke piece, the missing link, to make it all fall into place? Was it the price of growing up? w Zm,- Childhood-was it so loiii; a o? Has the uorld thanm ' d so much since then, or was the thansje in usi What ahout childhood attracts us. calls hack fond memories? When we were oune, we didn t worr about war. pollu- tion, racism. We worried about rain, or the flat on our bike, or whether Superman would get there on time. 13 ' -fic-.yS ; ' : ! -: -j W Look at the faces of children. What the have, we once had too. Their fresh eager outh)ok on life was once ours, onl to be discarded along with paper dolls and teddy bears. And yet, we search for it even now. So if we want to run and jump or stand on our heads or twirl on our toes or blow soap bubbles-why not? Find an old stuffed toy and squeeze out some of the love. What was lost can be found. The answer ' The thing we are looking for-a return to innocence. This peace, gone forever, was one of kind and carefree pleasures. A place of simplicity and ignorance where we once lived our dreams and dreamed our lives. The place only a child would know. Now that we are grown and away, we long to be back, once again, to the simple pleasures and silK games that we once plaved.
