Sweethearts of '84 Y . Q ,xr I Q Q . S E Aww i A l l Q6 The 1984 Beauty Pageant started off slow but ended with a bang. Twenty-two girl's were entered in the contest and twelve went into the fin- als on February 23. The theme of the pageant was called Socorro's Sweet- heart, and the stage was all set up for the night. The styles for the pageant were sportswear, fashion wear, and formal wear. Bill Huddy, from chan- nel 7, was the M.C. The Stage Band, the Missionettes and poppers, Alex Lizarrazo and Patrick Sifuentes, were a great hit. All went well, with no problems and it was finally time to announce the winners. The second runner-up was Christina Lopez, first runner-up was Shannon Tidwell, and Socorro's Sweetheart was Marisa Napier. Ev- eryone went on stage to congratulate the winners along with the other con- testants, and then went home having had an entertaining evening. QU Lupe Munoz, Regina Foster and Angie Arellano put up the streamers and balloons for the Beauty Pageant. Q21 Lupe Hernandez cuts out letters to spell out Socorro's Sweetheart. 131 Gina Rodriguez helps out the yearbook staff with the letters. Q41 Martha Alvarado draws up the posters for the beauty pageant. C51 Viola Avila waits on one of the prizes for the pag- eant.
