J -:Q I . 95 YN L .E J' , . 1 The traditional Homecoming Week started off with a thunder shower, but skies had cleared up by Friday's pep rally. Preparations started long before with OEA girls selling garters and corsages. The Student Council always has their share with the car decorating contest and the Junior class decorated the main hall and the dance hall for Homecoming day. Homecoming Day, October 7, 1983, started off with the exchanging of corsages and garters. The pep ral- ly during first period was the row- diest Homecoming pep rally ever. The Homecoming Court was intro- duced: Freshman Duchess was Yvonne Garcia escorted by Adrian Garcia, Sophomore Duchess was Corina Martinez escorted by Patrick Sifuentesg Junior Duchess was San- dra Grijalva escorted by Danny Zara- gosag Senior Duchesses were Viola Avila escorted by Marko Lopez, Lau- ra Hernandez escorted by lsidro Ma- cedo and Lady-in-waiting was Sandra Herrera escorted by Benny Lopez. The Homecoming Queen was lrene Flores escorted by Abel Ornelas. 85 Jerry Garcia won the car decorat- ing contest. The only Change made in the Homecoming traditions was the elimination of the annual bon fire by the Socorro Fire Dept. A little disap- pointed at this, but with no less spirit, the Bulldogs set out to make it the best Homecoming ever. Everyone headed for the football game at 7:30. The Socorro Bulldogs hosted the Hanks Knights, but lost 28-0. This didn't stop the Bulldogs, they danced the night away at Sts. Peter and Paul Hall. ill The winning car at the car decorating contest was entered by Jerry Garcia and Olga Barraza. Q21 Irma Natividad holds up the home- coming corsages and garters sold by OEA. Q35 Mr. Al Busurto congratulates Queen lrene Flo- res. Q45 The Bulldogs put up a tough fight against the Knights. Q51 JNROTC Drill Team girls wear their uniforms for Homecoming day. Q63 The Socorro Missionettes enjoy the pep rally. Q77 The 1983 Homecoming court is intro- duced during the pep rally. 181 Mr. Tony Ro- bles says a few words during the pep rally.
