Flag girls inspire spirit ik 'QE . -a is 1 A.: K. ? fiv ... . .. MQ? ,.i,,.,.,1,...t'- Socorro high school's flag corps consisted of 14 girls, more than half of them sophomores and juniors. It was the first time the squad competed in competition with the band, who received an excellent rating. It may all seem fun and glamorous, but it's not. The girls begin practice before school gets out in the spring, and continue all through the summer. They held bake sales to help pay for any extra clothing they wished to obtain to add to their uniforms. They also participated with the band in selling items to raise funds for uniforms, trips and any other items that will help im- prove the band. The squad is supervised by Mrs. Marlene Maegher, who worked with the girls before and after school during football season to perfect their halftime routines. QU The Socorro High Flag girls are, back row, Ida Gonzales, Maria De La Rosa, Sonia Ramirez, Lisa Mossman, Betty Patino, Norma Rojas, Alicia De La Rosa, and Martha Dominguez. Front row is Ter- ry Carrasco, Lucy Hernandez, Carol Enri- guez, Christie Munoz, Leticia De La Rosa and Marina Estrada. QD The girls show their spirit at the football games. 135 Letty and Maria watch on as the ICSI of the girls try to get their act together. Flag Girls 95
