CLASS PHUPH IJ By Nona Hays Operator, would you give me Social Circle, Georgia please. Hello! Mother? How are you feeling today? I just had to call and tell you about the wonderful time we had yesterday at the reunion for the Senior Class of I955. You iust can't imagine how glad I was to see everyone and find out what they had been doing since graduation. Do you remember how faithfully Lillie Moss wrote to Kenneth McDaniel while he was in the Navy? Well,'they got mar- ried as soon as he was discharged from the service, and now she's helping him run a dairy in Newton County. Billy Underwood, you remember, always raced up and down the roads at a high speed in his Buick and never seemed to get caught by the state patrol. Well, guess what he's doing now. That's right He's a state patrol! Billy said he loved his work and if anyone knows how to catch people it's Billy. Mary Jane Maffett and I had a very interesting conversation. She told me about the happy years she spent at Young Harris College where she maiored in Religious Education. Now she is a Director of Religious Education at her husband's church in Atlanta. Donald Peters finally lived up to his nickname of Sheriff . He has Dock Sorrells' job as sheriff of Walton County. Joann Boss finally decided to marry that cute boy from Jersey. They are now living in Monroe. While Joann keeps house and tends to the children, her husband works in the mill. You remember, don't you, how I used to tell you what a good bass voice Colley Jackson had when he sang in our Glee Club? Well, believe it or not he didn't take Mr. Richardson's place after all. He's now bass singer in the Stateman's Quartet. After taking a secretarial course in college for two years, Beverly Wiley decided she would rather keep house for her husband and take dictation from him than to be a secretary. And Herbert Watkins of all people is playing professional football with the Redskins. d Head nurse at Walton County Hospital is Martha Durden. After many years of campaigning she finally caught a octollllollond Adams always loved to fool around with electricity. Now he's the head of the Georgia Power office in Cov- ington, Georgia. Joy Everett, who married soon after graduation, has a full time iob taking care of her husband, her two boys, ahd her secretarial job at Westinghouse. You remember Virginia Herndon who we all thought might some day develop her singing talent. The past year she sold more records than any other blues singer in the United States. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that Marvin Elder is now head mechanic at Walker Motor Company. Martha Simons, you remember, was always a whiz in our shorthand class. She is a private secretary for the South- eastern Manufacturing Company in Monroe. After four yecirs of college Dean Huneycutt has begun teaching chemistry and coaching basketball in Social Circle High School. He has reached his greatest ambition - being able to whip Jodie! Linda Harrison, our star high school debater, has taken Miss Vivien's place in high school as an English teacher and a debate instructor. Edward Huff is now one of the leaders in the Merchants Association of Georgia. Edward credits his success to Mr. Sigman and his training at Sigman's Grocery. Jack Nelson is now Superintendent at Social Circle High School. He really enioys this position for he has plenty of sleeping time when everyone else is in class. Betty Peters who had become an experienced saleslady at AIIen's 5 Sr IO in Monroe is now a big buyer in Los Angeles. FRIENDLIEST d H ff And Mother, everyone was glad to hear Mow 'lone MGHGII Edwo' U that I went to college for four years and be- came a Home Demonstration Agent for the Georgia Power Company before I decided to get married to an old high school flame. My, I'll iust have to quit talking about the wonderful time I had yesterday with my class- mates of '55 and fix supper for the children. Come over tomorrow and we can finish reminiscing about my old school days. Love to you and Daddy. Bye! Bye! -BTW?
