From the Halls of Montezuma To the shores of Tripoli, They will fight our country's battle In the air, on land, and sea. To add to their glorious past Once more they're on the scenes Of all the major battles, Fighting, fearless Marines. While battling in the Solomons, That torrid, swampy land, Round the world these words were Situation well in hand. Anchors Aweigh, my Boys. Anchors .Aweigh, Farewell to college joys They sail at break of day. Our boys as sailors may be found On boats in every sea With naval planes and war-ships They keep the waters free. In the Coral Sea, the Navy Blue Beat the japs, winning fame. Soon everyone had heard the phrase, Sighted sub and sank same. il? e ,Salute Over hill, over dale, as we hit the dusty trail y And the Caissons go rolling along. In the tanks, in the trench, you can count upon our men To right Pearl I-Iarbor's wrong. These dauntless men in khaki garb Have sworn to be avengers Of the heroes on that far-oif isle, Bataan's gallant defenders. Our Johnny Doughboys everywhere Have proved their strength and might echoedf And the Army has shown the Rising Sun That soon will come the night. Off they go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun. For missions successfully completed The respect of the Allies they've won. To bomb the Axis cities In the fortresses they go. Japan has not forgotten That raid on Tokyo. Air Corps men on every front Are fighting, striving, dying. No matter what the risk or odds Our Aces Keep 'Em Flying. Under the capable direction of Mrs. liarison, the story of ambitious and vivacious Susan Blake and her high school friends unfolded before a large, appre- ciative audience. Becoming editor of the school paper, Susan adopted a plan that was much opposed by her boyfriend. hlohnny, and his lady-killer pal. Spud. Her plans went awry and matters from bad to worse, when johnny, follow- ing the other boys, fell for a pretty Southern damsel. Lucybellc Lee. l-lowever. at the darkest moment, the plot turned and a humorous series of events drew the play to a close. Supported by an unusually talented cast, Delores Losa and David Scher turned in excellent performances. True, our record shows no victories as against nine defeats, but never did the Snyder aggregation fail to give its all for the gang rooting in the stands. On September 25, they doggedly fought the Bulldogs from Ferris, who barely notched a victory as our chargers permitted the Yellow and Green to cross the final stripe just once. The first four games during October brought out true Snyder spirit. Though outweighed and overpowered in reserve, our cheerleading squad kept the stands yelling as our eleven ploughed away at the Michaelians, the Hill- toppers, ranked with the best in the State, and the Prepsters. Sure. we lost, but we were in there all the way. Finally, on October 24, against the Union Hill powerhouse, we scored. Joe Barth, Hudson County's outstanding athlete, romped across the final stripe after taking a pass chucked by Buddy Bovasso out of the air between three defensive backs. We lost that one, also, but the echo of that touchdown cheer goes on. Weakened by injuries and Joe Barth's entrance into the Navy, our squad lost to the Blue Bells from Emerson by a slim 7 to 0 on Halloween Day, and the Snyderites con- tinued to cheer with that never-die spirit throughout the slowest game of the campaign. Our eleven met Memorial in bad shape and came home worse--Score 50 to O. The closing game of the campaign saw the Tigers vali- antly combat the Lincoln e'even on Thanksgiving Day. Overpowered, we succumbed, but the Lions fought tooth and claw for every yard gained, and in the stand, on the Held, the Snyder spirit left no doubt that we were down but we weren't out. JOE BARTH.
