V I The boys' basketball tournament started off a bit early this year, but showed many exciting games. The seventh grade champions were the 7-4's who cleteatecl the 7f5's 13-I0 in the championship game. The team was captained by Frank Speight who was the main spark throughout the entire tourna- ment. The 8-I home room won the eighth grade championship by defeating several hard fighting teams. Captain Bill Irby and Lee Douty helped the team to stay in the running. In the ninth grade race, the 9-4 home room, captained by Earl Lucius, was defeated by the 9-2's, led by Bill Chapman: The final score was 75-70. The eighth grade softball tournament presented an un- usually interesting series of games. The 8-Z's home room, led by Eddie Kaplan, was successful in winning the champion- ship by deleating 8-l.
