After the few months triai the School Board was so pieased with its success that they decided to add another year. Snowden Township High Schooi has shown a steady increase in enroihnent. in the first year of the high schooi. 1955-1954, the enrothnent of 87 was handled hy two teachers, Mr. Weaver and Mr. 1V1agi11. During that year, however. we had only the Freshman grade, hut with the next year 1954-1955 we were ahte to add the Sophomore grade. The enrollment for this term showed an increase of 70 students over the previous term. The new enroiiment naturaiiy called for more teachers, who were immediateiy added. The teachers for this term were Mr. Magiit, Ntiss Maioney, Mr. Noei, 1V1r. Sowa, and 1V1r. Weaver. The year following the addition of the Sophomore grade, it was found to he impossihte to add another year, consequently, those who were to he Juniors were compelled to attend an- other schoot. There was, however, an increase of 24 in the enrottment, making 181 students. The same year we had the addition of only one teacher, Miss Rothaar, who came to us as music instructress. The Junior year was added for the term of 1956-1957. There was an enroiiment of 211, an increase ot 50 students. Witli the opening of this term we found an addition of three new teachers, 1V1iss Ander- son, 1V1r. Barclay, and Miss Littte. Later in the year Mr. Barciay, who ieft us to go to the Homestead schools, was replaced hy Mr. Burkett. Through the cooperation of the School Board, the citizens of Snowden Town- ship, and the contracting company we were ahte to estahiish our Senior year. This was the most important event in the history of the high schoot. With the Senior year came an enroiiment of 241 students showing an increase of 50 pupiis. Aiong with this addition came severai new teachers: tV1r. Disegi, Miss Gove, 1V1iss Hoffman, Miss Hoiieran, and Mr. Hucicestein. The curricuia made avaitahie to the students hy the addition of the 12th year are general, commercial, and academic. The offer- ing in the commercial tieid now is Typing, Shorthand, Junior Business Training, and Bookkeeping. The academic course inciudes Chemistry, Science, Biology, Aigehra, Geometry, and Latin. Home Economics was established for the gifts and shop for the hoys.
