9n Memo riam JOYCE WELLS On Friday afternoon, September 25, 1959, just one week after Joyce’s death, as the evening shadows began to fall before the autumn sun- set, another tree was quickly felled in our forest as Dewey Joyner lost control of his car and passed away one hour later as a result of in- juries received in the accident. Once more, we knew that we had lost a fine friend and a good companion. Each autumn when the leaves be- gin to turn, we shall remember Dewey and think of him as he awaits us in the Land of Everlasting Beauty where trees grow and grow without fear of storm or uprooting. On Friday, September 18, 1959, just as the green leaves of summer began to fade into their colors of autumn splendor, one of the leaves of our senior tree turned quickly, floated from our midst, and was taken quietly to the Unknown Land. In spite of our sadness, we rejoice that she was a part of our great senior tree, that we knew the joy of her friendship, and the inspira- tion of her faith and courage as our tree stood in the sunshine or swayed in the storms. The memory of her will never fade and we shall think of her often. Yet we know that she has been transplanted to that great place toward which all trees “lift their leafy arms to pray.” DEWEY JOYNER MRS. JOYCE P. BEAMAN English, French MISS JESSIE BULLOCK Piano MR.
