President EXECUTIVE COUNCIL The student leaders, under the direction of Putric McGarvey, demonstrated outstanding ability in making the school year an eventful one with assemblies, spaghetti parties, lectures, hootenannies, and carnivals. This year the previous office of Vice-President of Public Relations wasdivided into two separate offices: Executive Secretary of Public and Student Programs and Executive Secretary of Cultural Affairs. This addition has been very successful. 23 SENATE The Senate is made up of the executive, dub, and class officers. They are the governing body of the Associated Students of Snow College who have strived to strengthen the old traditions and create new ones. COUNCIL A rifle raffle, a beard Browing contest, a dinner dance, and Men's Week were sponsored by the Associated Men Students. The council members were: Vince O’Neil, Jim Tatton; Paul Buhler, Secretary; Jim Petersen, President; and Gordon Tidwell, Vice-President. Missing is Terry Balser. A.W.S. COUNCIL The A.W.S. Council has planned the activities of the women on campus. Their events were the Preference Ball, Charm Night, the Mother-Daughter Banquet, and Cotton Week. The council members were: Sandra Aiken, Vice-President; Pam Willden, Secretary; Jan Halgren, President; Sue Turner, Kathy Peck, and Shawna Tucker. 60 Appointed by the Executive council, lulia Christensen served as editor of the 1°67 Snowonian SNOWONIAN STAFF Combining a yearbook lo bring back the memories of a year spent at Snow has been the objective of the Snowonian staff. Pictures and words have been carefully selected around the theme You are Snow to make the Snowoni.tn a keepsake of remembrance for years to come. A special thanks is extended to Mr. James Aston, advisor; and Mr. Joseph Crane, photographer. lohn Cowan's pictures were an asset to this year's book. lohn Neilscn added his talents of photography to the Snowonian. Doug Doolittle, copywriter; Sam Richardson, layout editor; and David Shirley, copywriter worked many hours on the Snowonian. SNOWDRIFT STAFF Snow College is informed bimonthly of the events happening on campus by the Snowdrift. The paper was expanded to five columns and the l.etters to the Editor column was added this year. Doug Trotter and his staff have worked hard to keep the students up-to-date on news, sports, and activities. 1 our Trotter was appointed editor of the Snowdrift by the Executive Council Seated, left to ri ht; Candy Fifield, Kathryn Sorensen, and Jerri Burdick Standing Dave Shirley. Richard Jacques, and Kim Christison. These- people worked as report ers for tin Snowdrift. The Focus was under the direction of Barbara Mikkelsen. Vickki Moore did the layouts and l.aRaync Baum was a script writer. Other members of the staff were Kathy Curtis, artist; Angela Taylor and layrene Barney, scriptwriters. FOCUS STAFF The “Focus” is distributed before every school year to introduce the new students to our college. This informative magazine features an introduction to the Administration, Student body officers, and a general picture of student life on campus. Barbara Mickkelsen has edited this year’s Focus”. The staff has produced an interesting publication to show that Snow College is here for “You”. tohn Cowan spent long hours working in the darkroom to furnish pictures for the Focus . 63 PUBLIC RELATIONS The purpose of the Public Relations Committee was to provide talent programs from Snow College to the surrounding communities and schools. Under the direction of Barbara Nielsen and her staff the image of Snow College was strengthened and added upon. Candy Fifield, Scott Rowley, Yvonne Voorhees. Molly Bartholomew, and Barbara Nielsen planned the traveling assemblies Gary lewkes. Mary K Olsen, Tom lohnson, lern Burdiek, and Bob Greenwood composed the Assembly Committee. ASSEMBLY Tom lohnson headed the Assembly Committee which was in charge of approving all assemblies. They scheduled all the assemblies pre-sentedby theclubs, alongwith making the arrangements for the intellectual and cultural programs. 6-1 STUDENT UNION BOARD The Student Union Board is composed of Director Holm, Dean Green, the Vice-President of the studentbody, and various students. They traveled to the Brigham Young University, Phoenix Jr. College, Mesa College, College of Eastern Utah, and Dixie College. They sponsored the Intermountain J:orcnsics Conference on April 21 and 22. To climax the year, members of the squad traveled to California to the Nationals where they received outstanding ratings. Oration was successful for Vince O'Neil. Mo placed first in oration at BYU 85 Barbara Nielsen was the coordinator tor the Intermountain Forensics Conference Sharon Mortenson won a trophy in oration. FRESHMEN ORIENTATION AND REGISTRATION 86 To the unsuspecting freshman, orientation was an exciting, frustrating, enlightening, and confusing experience. The student leaders greeted the freshmen and explained to them the school policies, registration procedures, and activity opportunities. Freshman Orientation began early in the morning in the auditorium. Each Freshman met the officers and became acquainted with them Everyone was introduced to hiv advisor and received counseling for registration. The Chuck Wagon Breakfast was enjoyed by everyone. lambda Della Sigma built the first plan- float. Homecoming Week was a bustle of activity for everyone. The designing and building of the dorm displays filled the first couple of days, then the Homecoming Queen contest on Wednesday added to the growing excitement. By Friday most students were in a wild frenzy of building and decorating floats, decorating the ballroom, and going to the pep rally and car caravan. The Homecoming Parade was one of the biggest and best ever and had several clever floats to catch the spectator’s eye. Excitement was climaxed at the rousing game with Dixie in the afternoon, and the activities were climaxed at the beautiful blue and gold Homecoming Dance that night. The A M S. had a comic entry for the parade. 88 The bonfire built by the Sophomores lit the t« rch for the torch run to the S' At halftime during the HomecominR game, the Gold Key displayed their new uniforms. 89 3D’S The Associated Students of Snow College sponsored a concert for the first time this year. They presented the 3 D’s in Rhyme, Rhythm, and Reason on December 8. The performance was outstanding and proved to be an enjoyable evening. 90 MOTHER- DAUGHTER BANQUET An evening filled with charm and enchantment was enjoyed by the Associated Women Students and their mothers April 5. The theme “Cinderellas: Old and Young was developed beautifully as all enjoyed an outstanding program presented by The Honeywells. SPRING REVUE For the first time, the Cold Key presented the Spring Revue, to climax their year. It was held on April 5 prior to the Mother-Daughter Banquet. 91 MISS SNOW CONTEST The Miss Snow Pageant was held on March 29. The co-chairmen were Leone Van Epps and Gary Jewkes. The contestants were judged on talent, beauty, and poise. Miss Snow represents the college at the Miss Utah Pageant.
