The world awaits For eyes that see and behold its wonders; A winter day with frosty breath and crystaled snow, footsteps frozen in ice; A twilight sky of pink and blue, and gold edged clouds - - darkening silhouettes of creek cottonwoods; For eyes that see deeply and pierce into meaning; The steady gaze of sincere eyes, a starting smile that widens into confidence; For glances into a human heart; Brushed beauty on a canvas Written images in a poem Molded designs in a vase. The world awaits and belongs to them who look, And having looked, can see. Volume 41 of the Snowonian V published by the ASSOCIATED STUDENT BODY OF SNOW COLLEGE, Ephraim, Utah. The world awaits voices conjecturing Discoveries yet unmade; Plans yet unconceived, only heard in the voice of the wind hushing time and endless knowledge, whispering treasures that belong To lips that can speak And ears that can hear The world awaits For fingers that touch and appraise its treasures; For fingers that hold pencils, scribe our paper, record wisdom; That sift, liquate, and refine crude rock into structural steel; Build skyscrapers on barren ground. The world awaits For the pressure of a hearty handshake; The feel of a hand laying on a shoulder - - strength flowing from one into another; The lazy warmth of the sun on a spring day; The first cooling cleanness of a plunge into water on a summer day. The world lays open her treasures asking only For creativity, by fingers that feel. 7 The world awaits For minds that think and discern its vastness. Read meaning in sight, and sound, and touch; That can interpret The significance of a spoken question The question of a shadowed eye The gesture of a pleading hand. The world awaits For conquest through comprehension the barrier mountain, moonlight tall, will crumble into drifting stardust and scatter the joy of achievement throughout The waiting world. And along the way, to touch the lives Of common travelers. There are no boundaries except of One's own making. 59 We really didn't need the freshman beanies for identification that first week questioning looks and confused expressions assured all interested that we were newcomers to Snow. However our registration fears were quickly? . . . calmed by friend'y and helpful teachers. We began the years' activities with breakfast—cooked and served by the director and his gang. With all praise doe to our breakfast tables, we found all, including pancakes, syrup, namecards and even the photographer's shadow in our laps College life began to take on new aspects. After a robust hike up the lion's head, we gladly let the student prex and his indains serve up the chow; fun, frolic, high spirits and good appetites we contributed ourselves. Homecoming Queen, Maxine Schaurhamcr: aMcndanls, Marla Hudson and Janice Thompsen. the dither of exciting events. Football enthusiasm was built to a high peak with a rousing snake dance followed by firelighted cheers. We built our floats, slept in classes, rebuilt our floats to carry our club queen candidates. We cheered them on during the parade to impress the returning alumni. Our lovely royalty reigned over all affairs, officially starting the tussle by carrying the pigskin out on the green. Homecoming game was, of course, our victory. Then we climaxed the week and rested our weary feet at the big dance. 65 More food — more fun! At the pancake party we realized our student officers' talents included cooking. We girls sighed with relief when the winners of the beard growing contest were finally announced. We donned pajamas, mau-maus and anything that resembled pajamas for a try at the costume prize bui applauded when Susan, Mick, and Roland walked away with the honors. A cold, busy December was climaxed with club displays, finals and Christmas caroling competition. And then we took ourselves home for a visit by Santa. 67 68 w® Another meal and we thought we'd die! But still we proudly invited our mothers to the A.W.S. Mother-Daughter banquet and our best (or second best) flame to the A.M.S. Dinner Dance. And again we danced. If we got tired we simply took off our shoes and kept dancing as we had throughout the year.
