Text from Pages 1 - 116 of the 1959 volume:

Ml Life becomes a kaleidoscope of mosaic, •. changing in shape, tint, and intensity as experience is fitted into experience . . . the alert, questing mind brings interpretations that yet seek new patterns. mmsM' -7- As there are basic colors blended in the rainbow, so are there basic values blended in living; tradition, built through racial experiences, has preserved the deep reds, blues, and yellows in the arts and sciences of living . . . In the halls of learning, they become meaningful values Campus life and lessons shape new mosaics each day-broadening here, deleting there, rebuilding and preserving always. The lighter moments of sharing thoughts and feelings lead to greater understanding and the discovery of social objectives. The moments before the curtain rises on new experiences they are tense, full of expectancy. What will be revealed? What will be lived As interpretation — as memory — as stark reality? What new colors will be added to life, real or imaginary? The kaleidoscope of social living is much larger than self. It includes the shared life with other persons, peoples, nations their problems, disappointments, and plans Fellowship can blend many varied lines by its warm hues and tints. The penetrating light of research, focused by the eager. vital mind, often splits the black of the unknown and reveals exciting new experiences — •ft experiences that may demand revision of long cherished concepts. Faith in progress and discovery brings the acceptance of new patterns of knowledge. The world of the ancients was '; v' ; V x ; ’ small and flat; today, there are no boundaries except the ability of mankind to create and discover. .jrTEw Newell V. Sanders Fern S. Headquarters for Diamonds The mosaic of life is always varied, changing. During this year, there have been confirmations and discoveries, disappointments and satisfactions that makes for each his own kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. At commencement, all will begin to add more experiences, but the patterns of this year will change, not be obliterated. Life will still have its colors, tints, hues and values — including dark spots to be explored or made part of the total mosaic. 1959 Snowonian, Published by Associated Studentbody of Snow College, Ephraim, Utah.
