Text from Pages 1 - 108 of the 1954 volume:

The Stage for the Production of the Year is the campus of a distinctive college located in a typical rural Utah community nestled among the Rockies. Action takes place against changes of backdrops, but center stage is the Noyes Building. This structure, of hewn stone and red brick, possesses a freeze and classic columns that depict pioneer culture. Adjacent are other structures, expansions to satisfy new needs and the plans of different producers. !n fore-stage, half-century old trees lend mood to the drama as it moves through autumn, to winter, and to spring. Location backdrops — football field, tennis courts, gymnasium, laboratories, class rooms, recreation halls, crowded shops, studios, sunlit steps and lawns — all reflect the spirit of learning and of playing, both dramatic aspects being the cast. We are all striving together to make Snow College an institution where we can mutually grow toward a more abundant life: socially, spiritually, physically, and educationally. This is an institution of higher learning where we strive to live and think on a higher plane. Their initial performance this year was as a benediction upon a room that has served for fifty years as the center of school activities. The small cast of actors seemed shadowed by parades of other casts who have walked the same boards in other costumes, interpreting other roles — other casts who have sung and danced to entertain friends and parents — other casts who have hallowed the Noyes Auditorium with worship and cultural achievements. The house lights are up—we applaud the performance—we fold our programs —we put them into our pockets for souvenirs—we gather our wraps and wend our way to the exits. We linger at the doorway and take one last look; the seats are emptying, the house lights are dimming, the musicians are playing the last strains of the exit music. As we pause, highlights of the performance flash quickly before our eyes. We see the Stars at the peak of their young careers, the Featured Players giving stellar performances, the Understudies readying themselves to assume leading roles and the Amateurs gaining in confidence and ability. Another glance back shows that on stage the grips are storing the scenery, the actors are removing grease paint, and soon the custodians will be preparing the building for another production. Thus the Production of the Year comes to an end. -----The staff I VMIg'JK 1 '.'WWW ' WW --------
