POCATELLO, IDAHO The Spirit of Progress has always invited man to discover. to understand and evaluate, to make of the past and the present a single pattern, to project a future, not finished but evolving. Love of progress has prompted the establishment and perpetuation of institutions, the work of which is to accept achievement, yet project goals for yet greater attainment. To the Spirit of Progress which actuated the founding and prompts the continuation of Snow College, this memoir of the Golden Jubilee year is humbly inscribed. Sfr; | m Wa SNOW COLLEGE Was founded November 5. 1888. under the title of Sanpete Stake Academy. Was first a preparatory and intermediate school. Added high school work in 1895. Added a fifth year, normal work, .in 1912. Was named Snow Normal College in 1917. Became a junior college in 1922. Discontinued high school work in 1925. Became Snow College in 1925. Was made a state junior college in 1951 under H. B. 101. Became a four year junior college in 1957. Added a Mechanic Arts building in 1957. In quiet dignity it stands to serve the seekers of understanding Mechanic: Arts Building—November. 1937. ‘‘Snou? President The challenge which presents itself to the youthful citizen of today is a glorious one. The experiences of the past decade have laid bare many of the shortcomings of our philosophy of life as a nation and have demanded a new philosophy that will more fully meet the requirements of the new economic status which has developed since the passing of the western frontier. Can you students of 1938 accept the challenge? Has your college experience given to you the power to think, to analyze, to evaluate, to form opinions, to act on those opinions, and to keep an open mind, one ready to receive new truths and willing to modify its opinions when new knowledge shows the need for such modification? Or will your college life leave you with a radical attitude, selfish and unwilling to grapple with the problems of society? If the former is your status, a rich future awaits you. The leaders of tomorrow, if they accept the challenge of today, have the opportunity of achievements as glorious as any yet accomplished in America or in the world. May you accept this challenge?
