CONSTRUCTING SOPHOMORE OFFICERS M S th J y Ma sh s SOPHOMORE CLASS To start the year the sophomore class held a meetung to elect class offucers for the year Donovan Buckford was chosen presudent Jurr' Dorsey vuce presudent and Jerry Marsh sec retary treasurer Donovan transferred to an other school and Jum Dorsey became presu dent Our sophomore class advusers were Mrs Condell and Mr Smuth The sophomore class shone brught un the fueld of sports Fuve boys from the sophomores earned letters un football They were Jum Dorsey Leonard Bluhm Jum Kendall Bub McLaun and Dale Harkunson Preferred by country The ones who earned a flyung foot un cross country were Toby Matson Don Mor ruson Ruch Hetland and Don Dunbar The Orthopeduc Druve was a bug thung for most sophomores Donovan Buckford and Lun da Fortune worked hard on ut wuth the help of many others We came un second place behund the senuors Basketball players were plentuful from the sophomore class wuth the B squad beung made up almost enturely of sophomores They were John Skupley John Porter Ron Nolan Dale Harkunson Warren Whute Leonard Bluhm Jum Kendall Toby Matson Bud McLaun and Jerry Marsh The last fuve mentuoned played at t mes on the A squad and earned letters The class rungs were selected furst by Judy Cochran Nancy Butler Jerry Marsh Leonard Bluhm and Jum Dorsey They selected three types and a class meetung was held to narrow the selectuon to one The name of the selectuon was Olympuc Champuon Gurls turnout got un full swung thus year by playung speedball volleyball and basket PAGE TWENTY SIX 5024. IJ Co dell ball Many sophomore gurls partucupated un these sports Tennus turnout for the gurls hav ung started March 4 they played all the neughborung gurls teams Lunda Fortune and Carol Douglas turned out The sophomore guuls un S Club were Susan Johnson Pat Cummungs and Lunda Fortune Sophomores were un the exchange assemblues also Par tucupatung were Sandy deSoto Lunda Fortune Shurley Sulcox Charlene Nuchols and Ron Ren Other actuvutues represented were drull team chour band and orchestra There was a fueld trup taken by the buology class and many sophomores had fun Our class also had several game concessuons The unter class basketball tourney was held The sophomores beat the freshman and then the senuors who had beaten the lunuors The sophomores then went on to whup the teach ers They were hauled as the basketball champs of S H S for the year l957 Sprung sports found many sophomores dus playung theur athletuc skulls at varuous places Baseball found Duck Green Jum Kendall Tum OBruen Dale Harkunson and Bob McLaun turnung out Turnung out for track were Don Smuth Bob Shrauner Jerry Fraulunu Len Bluhm Jum Dorsey Jerry Marsh Toby Mat son Ruch Hetlund Don Dunbar .lum Fank hauser Spud Whute John Porter Gene Moore Leo Merculuef Jerry Muller Warren Land and Bull Haune Jum Strublung turned out for tennus All un all the sophomores had a lot of fun together thus year They look forward to two more fun fulled years at S H S The class would luke to thank Mr Smuth and Mrs Condell for theur wonderful support O gh J-Fl I : r. mi , im Dorsey, Jerr r , Mr . n . 1 ' ' ' I . .
