OF THE PAST SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The many actsvstses played a leadsng role sn the Class of l 57 Act l Scene Freshmen The freshman msx ers gave an opportunsty to become acquainted Everyone enloyed playsng games and st was plasn to see that everyone had fun The next group meetsng was the electson of offscers Those chosen to gusde them through thus smportant scene were Dan Jones pressdent Dsck Butler vsce pressdent Mars lyn Jensen secretary treasurer Much of the success of thss group was due to thesr advssers Mr Cowles and Msss Poore Many gsrls got together and canned food for the annual Orthopedsc produce drsve Others were all over the Snohomssh area secursng donatson for thss worth whsle pro sect The frosh were awarded thsrd place sn thss smportant event The freshmen boys had thesr fsrst oppor tunsty to enter hsgh school sports Many turned out for football basketball track and tennss The frosh basketball team wsth an smpresssve record of TO wsns and 2 loses tsed for the champsonshsp Act ll Scene Sophomores The class had a successful year under the dsrectson of Mske Elasne Bolduan secretary treasurer Much of the fsrst quarter sn their Sopho more year was dedicated to the Orthopedsc Everyone pstched sn and canned and helped wsn the honor of recesvsng second place sn the contest Many sophomores were snstsated sn honor socsety as thesr fsrst step towards thesr torch The boys were actsve sn FFA actsvstses Three of the boys were sn the Parlsamentary Procedure team whsch was quste an honor They went to other schools to partscspate sn contests and to brsng back awards A sophomore party was held sn the small gym A pot luck dsnner was held sn the cafe tersa wsth all the food they could posssbly eat Afterwards a program was presented A skst and entertasnment from the sophomores was enloyed and later dancsng The bsology crusse to Sucsa Island sn the San Juans was one of the hs lsghts of thesr sophomore year The sea scout boat took them from Anacortes to Sucsa Act Ill Scene Junsors The fsrst meetsng of the year was the electson of offscers for the Junsor Class Pressdent Mske Bell Vsce Pressdent Howard Rsebe Secretary Les Baker and Treasurer Darrell Lokken were chosen to lead thesr class The sunsors were vsctorsous sn the Ortho pedsc by wsnnsng fsrst place judged on qualsty quantsty and dssplay All the lunsors were proud to have achseved thus honor An after game dance was gsven by the lunsors Ssdewalk Cafe was the theme chos en for thss dance Approprsate decoratsons helped to make st a success Many of the boys had an opportunsty to play on the varssty squad sn football and basketball Several were actsve sn track and set varsous records for the school Pat Dobson was chosen by the 500 stu dents as the Homecomsng prsncess for the annual l-'omecomsng actsvstses Fantassa was chosen by the Junsors as the theme of the Junsor Prom Decoratsons were centered around the color scheme of punk and sslver wsth a fasryland scene at one end of the gym Wsth the help of thesr aclvssers Mrs Hodge and Mr Gunderson and the commsttee chasrmen the Prom was a real success Mske Bell was chasrman and I-'oward Rsebe was co chasrman Elasne Mason was elected to be the prsn cess from Snohomssh for the Wenatchee Ap ple Blossom Festsval She rode on a float whsch partscspated sn several parades Act IV Scene Sensors The class was off to a good start by selectsng Les Baker as pressdent Dsane Lsnse as vsce pressdent Vsr Lokken as treasurer The Class of 57 was agasn vsctorsous n wsnnsng the Orthopedsc produce contest All of the sensors got together and canned at Fergusons Cannery and canvassed the town for food donatsons They also spent one nsght to form the dssplay whsch helped them to wsn tsrst place Pat Dobson resgned over Homecomsng as queen and Pat Keller was one of the two prsncesses for the Homecomsng game agasnst Arlsngton The Cursous Savage was the tstle of thesr Sensor Play Eleven cast members the sensor class and the backstage crew all sold tsckets Everyone helped to make st a success 500 people ensoyed thss hslarsous play The Sensor Slop Day was lots of fun for the Sensors Everyone came to school sn old clothes and wsth patches on the clothes and tsn cans hangsng from them Each person dessgned hss own costume All of the sensors had an opportunsty to go to Olympsa to see the legsslature sn actson The mornsng classes went one day and the afternoon classes went the next They enloyed hearsng and seesng the House of Represent atsves and the Senate sn actson Thus act IV came to an end as the curtasns were drawn The class of 57 wsll always remember the wonderful four years spent at Snohomssh Hsgh School PAGE TWENTY ONE . ,, 9 ,, . . ,, . ,, I S D I . . - F I - I - - . .. GIISIII JUNIOR OFFICERS S ac S d Schott Gay Meacham M G s JUNIOR CLASS Members of the lunlor class started the year successfully by electnng the followlng offlcers Presldent Gary Meacham Vice Pres :dent Dave Carlson Secretary Sandra Schott Treasurer Jack Crabbs As football season came around some of the lunnors such as Gary Meacham John Van Eyk Clayton Fuller and Jack Crabbs were found nn each game flghtlng for a vlctory Along wuth football was the annual home coming The lunrors were proud to have Joann Smith chosen as one of the princesses Next came basketball season Many of the lunlors partncupated ln the games The ones that werent playlng could be found IH the s ands yelling and cheerlng for the Panthers Durnng football season Ruth Wheeler Gordon Harklnson and Joann Smuth repre sented the class as cheerleaders Ann Uran and Marllyn Harvey were song leaders For basketball Sandy Haselton was elected as a cheerleader along with Ruth and Joann Marnlyn was a song leader for basketball also Tne class of 58 was well represented In many other actlvltles lncludlng baseball track drlll team Lambda Kal Epsilon student body offrcers student council Glrls Club offlcers and Girls Club Councul The Orthopedlc was a bug thrng for the lunlors thus year They had qulte a problem wuth 927 gallons of applesauce on theur hands Thus applesauce caused them to go Into debt but thus didnt break down their splrlts or am buttons They were determined to pay off theur debt They worked on car washes candy sales and even had a party an order to earn money They dad very well and paud almost all of theur debt The class placed third In the ludgnng of the displays During basketball season the lunlors had a dance the theme of which was Holxday Hop Decoratuons Included a brg lighted Chrnstmas tree As the year progressed sprung came and so dld the Junlor Prom On Aprnl 26 the Meacham and Ruth Wheeler were selected as general chalrmen The other chairmen were as follows mvltatuons Sandy Schott programs Marl ne and Ellene Posey punch Rhodessa Maruska decoratnons Mary Lee Pettlbone construction Jack Crabbs and Clyde Moller chaperones Marulyn Harvey tnckets Sandy Haselton tmance Arthur Levlne advertlse ment Elva Naff posters Kay McDonald pho tographs John Van Eyk clean up Velma Iverson entertannment Judy Rnley band Ann Uran announcements Glorua Hands clock room Jamce Hendrrckson The decorations were of an Hawauan set ting lt had colorful burds flowers and palm trees Another event that fell In the sprung was that of going to Career Day at Western Washmgton College of Educatlon Those lun tors who were Interested In the teachnng pro fessuon and going to college were eligible to go Thus encouraged many and Interested them an the prospect of furtherung thelr education The final task for the lunlors was that of ushering for commencement So ended an other successful year for an up and comlng class PAGE TWENTY THREE - O X.
