One big event which many took part in was the Community Red Cross Drive. Jeanette Lindstrom was in charge of STUDENT COUN CIL-FIRST SEMESTER 5 canvassing on the one-night porch-light drive. Over two hundred dollars was collected to- ward the successful campaign. President Iverson appointed Joanne Hagg- lund as chairman, and Dorene Woinowsky as sub-chairman of the school carnival held in the big gym on the night of April l8. This event was the final big affair sponsored by Student Council and concluded an active and progressive year. J 7 w PAFE FHI1 TX 'NINI' wecf 4, The 96 voice mixed choir, directed by Miss Marguerite Snavely, gave several outstanding performances during the year. Their first performance was at the Ortho- pedic program in October. In December the choir presented its gift to the community in the form of a Christmas concert in the audi- torium. On March 14, the band and choir gave its annual spring concert in the new gym. On Saturday, March 29, they participated in the Annual Western Washington Northern Di- vision Choir Competition Festival at Edmonds. During May, selected members of the choir attended the Annual Snohomish County Festi- val in Everett. Twice during the summer months, the band participated in parades in Everett. First, the annual 4th of July parade and then, the Scan- dinavian Festival, where the band won second place. Later in the summer, in the Kla-Ha-Ya Days celebration, the dancing steps of the band drew the admiration and applause of the spec- tators that lined the streets. This fact is proven by the large girls' tumbling team, boys' tumbling team, and the rope climbers. The girls are much in demand for perform- ances and some of their more important ap- pearances have included acts at the Cerebral ROPE CLIMBERS Palsy Center in Seattle, the Aldercrest Sani- torium, the Orthopedic Play, at a basketball game and several school assemblies. The boys have usually performed right along with girls and with the two groups combined a fine show is put on. The rope climbers also performed at several basketball games including an invitational ap- pearance at the district playoffs at Everett. FIRST ROW: Bob Lane, Jim Stroh, John Goins, Gene Krotlce.
