Class Hrstory The Clrss of ll started on rts 12 year Journey one sunny September mornrng, rn 1935 Berng only lowly frrst graders we srmply went through a ye r of learning the fundamental A B Cs of knowledge Thrn came the second grade Ah now we were gettrng somewhere and drd we know rt We felt more at ease rn our school and looked down on those w ro had just entered school as the underclassmen The thrrd and fourth grades passed smoothly along under our feet leavrng us wrth strll more confr dence that we were learnrng rt all Durrng the f th year of our schoolrng tragedy overtook us for our frfth grade teacher Mrss Kmepe suddenly passed away It was rn our frfth year that we approprr ated enough money tn buy some rnterestrng dog bock for the class The next year was our prrde and Joy for we were now hrgh and mrghty srxth graders All underclassmen crrnged at our approach tor so we thoughtb Durrn thrs year we sponsored a pet show and elected a queen a prrncess and a prrnce to rergn oyer the day set asrde for thrs bw event Vlable Krause became our pretty blonde queen and Janet Harrrs and Eugene Norton served as the prrncess and prmce VVhen the excrtrng., day arrrxed students of rll grades brought therr pets to be rn the show and paraded behrnd the royalty through the streets of Snohomrsh We were also able to go down to Seattle to vrsrt the Aquarrum and Antrque Shop along the water front All the students enycyed themselyes durmg the tour and at the prcnlc that followed at Vtoodland Park Needless to say we all came home wrth full stomachs and mrnds trammed wrth thrs new knowledge of the great crty Junror Hrgh That was our next brg step But here we were srmply seventh graders wrth no underclassmen to trample on But we were gettrng somewhere for nov we went to school rrght along srde of the hrgh school students It was here tlsat we sampled our frrst but of lrfe srmrlar to the hrgher grades We u ed book lockers and even changed teachers durxng the day Some members of the clrss belonged to the Junror I-Irgh School Chorr and were able to attend the Choir Contest held rn Seattle Annre VV1lson served as the Grrls Club presrdent rn our erghth year and drd a very nrce Job rn that offrce Graduation day from Junror High was an Important one to us We were now ready to leave the home lrke halls of one burldrng and ourney across the wrde drrveway to a new and strange world Green as grass freshmen That rs what we were called Strll we had rernforcements to back us up rn our travel for many new students entered hrgh school from Marshland the Lutheran school Machxas Fobes Sw ans Trarl and other out of town schools Wrth all that background we started our career off by electrng Mary Jane Larrmer presrdent Wally Reed vr epresrdent and Gene Norton to be called off 'VIrss Thelma Olson was our faculty advrser In our sophomore year we really began to make the dust fly Sophomore boys turned out for foot ball basketball and baseball Grrls drd therr share also rn Grrls S We agarn sponsored a roller skatrng party but thrs trme lt clrcked presrdent Bob Jones saw to that' We were well represented rn student councrl rnd two sophomore boys Jorned the Hr Y Club The cast of the school play Dont Take My Penny was also frlled wrth many sophomores Our class seemed also to take an rnterest rn musxc for one fourth of the chorr was sophomores and four sophomore grrls entered rn a musrc contest at Renton nd won hrgh ratrngs Our offrcers were Bob Jones presrdent Brll Ingalls vrce presrdent and Roger Wrllrams secretary Steve Smrth was our helpful advrser When we reached our Junror year we realrzed at once that we w re now one of the upper classes We started the year out rrght by electrng Brll Ingalls presrdent Dwarne Lambert vrce presrdent Mar rlyn Stocker secretary treasurer Mrs Hodge was our advrser Of ourse the blggest event of that year was the Junror Prom Betty Morse became the charrman and wrth her commrttees enabled us to put on one of the best Proms ever held rn Snohomrsh Hrgh School Another brg event was the Fresta 1 Mexrcan Carnrval w hrch was the frrst put on for the whole school The Fresta proved very success ful and Bet 'Vlorse acted as general charrman We were also well represented rn sports honor groups rn school and musrc Yes Indeed our class was golng strong Senrors Just rmagrne' We frnally made rt Lrttle drd we dream that the year could be so rushed Durrng a quret class meetmg we elected our class offrcers Verne Fankhauser presrdent Vrrgrnra Anderson uce presrdent Lenore Schaus secretary and 'Vlarrlyn Stocker treasurer 'Vhss Fowler our class advrser helped us a lot durrng the year A grand Senror Ball was made possrble because of the hard work done by Marle Bortano and her commrttees The senrors worked hard for sports school gowernment socral actrvrtres and musrc therr last year Brll Ingalls served as the student body presrdent the frrst semester and Art Prlrchowskr served as presrdent durrng., the second semester Theg senrors held an annual Senror Banquet on Aprrl 18 Durrng therr baa lrret they added still more mem N orres of S H S to therr collectron and added fperrodb to therr warstlrnes A senror prcnrc was held near the end of school and a good trme was had by all Graduatron on May 28 completed the Class of 47s twelxe year Journey Snohomrsh Hr yrur sons and daughters
