Boys' State lt is the purpose of the Delaware Boys' State to help young men bet- ter their understanding of the func- tion of state government. This is achieved by permitting boys chosen from various schools throughout the state assume the position of state representative or senator for a period of several days. By this ac- tual participation in the affairs of state the boys gain an intimate un- derstanding of the functioning of the state governmental system, there- fore making them better citizens. i Girls' State Delaware Girls' State is held an- nually at Wesley Junior College in Dover. Each junior class of each high school in Delaware elects two representatives. These girls are given a week long expenses paid trip to Dover. The general purpose of Girls' State is to instruct its mem- bers in the functions of government through actual participation.
