Want A Book? The purposes of the Smyrna High School Li- brary Club are to stim- ulate reading interests, to sponsor a greater in- terest among the students in the use of books and in library service, and to improve the library service of the school. The membership of the club is made up of students from grades ten through twelve. This year there are 35 mem- bers. The activities of the club consist of pro- viding book exhibits and displays, desk duty, and other activities concern- ing operation of the li- brary. Boys' State lt is the purpose of the Delaware Boys' State to help young men bet- ter their understanding of the func- tion of state government. This is achieved by permitting boys chosen from various schools throughout the state assume the position of state representative or senator for a period of several days. By this ac- tual participation in the affairs of state the boys gain an intimate un- derstanding of the functioning of the state governmental system, there- fore making them better citizens. i Girls' State Delaware Girls' State is held an- nually at Wesley Junior College in Dover. Each junior class of each high school in Delaware elects two representatives. These girls are given a week long expenses paid trip to Dover. The general purpose of Girls' State is to instruct its mem- bers in the functions of government through actual participation. The representatives hold conventions, campaign and elect their governor and other executive officers.
