'I' To 0 SPADE, Nov. 6 tSpeciall-Coach Byron Boatman's Smyer Bobcat: defeated the Spade Longhorns, 7-0, in a hard-fought battle Thursday night. Smyer's touchdown was made by Quarterback Jimmy Moring late in the fourth quarter when he pick- ed up a Spade fumble on the enemy 10 and went over for the score. Alton Thomasson plunged across for the extra point on a line buck. Ijoth teams threatened to score several times earlier in the game. Smyer held Spade twice on downs after Spade had knocked to the Smyer tive-yard line. Spade recovered a Smyer fumble on its own two-yard line after a 60-Yard gallop by Thomasson. Passing was limited. Spade com- pleted fone out of five while Smyer didn't attempt a single aerial. Spade had two touchdowns called back on clipping penalties. The scoring runs were by Billy Pierce and Jerry Wells. W. B. Jones was outstanding for Spade on defense. For Smyer it was Harvey McDougal, Thomas- son and Moring. Smyer plays Southland next week at Smyer while Spade takes on Cotton Center at Spade.
