OF SMOOT SCHOOL For the flrst txme in the hlstory of Smoot Hlgh School the Eighth Grade was moved from the over crowded Grammar School and made a part of the S1x Sxx Program and gn en a place m the hxgh school The class officers were elected as follows Presldent Jxmmy Crane Vice President Bobby Hacker Secretary Frederxck Hoke Song Leader Wanda Gay Lackey Commmttees have been appomted as needed At the beglnnmg of school our enrollment was twenty four mne gurls and fnfteen boys Four of our number have left Smoot and enrolled tn other schools They are Central Joe Hobbs Dawson Elbert Shawver Jimmie Crane moved wlth his famlly to Crownsvllle Maryland When Jimmie moved away the vxce president Bobby Hacker became president and Benny Shafer was elected vxce presxdent On October thlrty flrst our class party was held at the home of Charles Kieffer Clmtom xlle Mrs Lovell our home room teacher spon sored the party We had a wonderful time and delnghtful refreshments Our secretary Frederick Hoke was authorxzed to wrnte a letter of appre clatlon to Charles parents for offering the hosp1ta11ty of their home for our party A letter of sympathy was wr1tten to Zella Butler upon the death of her father And a note was written to Ray Stanley s father upon t occasion of his serious accxdent Z0 Rupert ......... .Betty Seve rt .
