JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY When the Fall of 1946 rolled around thxrty four green Fresh men entered Smoot I-hgh School to begm the first step on the ladder of educatxon Our flrst business was the election of class offxcers wzth the followxng results President Charles Farren Vice Pres1dent Chrxstlne Puckett Secretary Frances Sheppard Treasurer Pauline Holland Durlng our Freshman year we had a class party we also enter ed Ruby Jean Cavendlsh as our candndate for Queen at our school carm val she won thxrd place and was one of the Queen s attendants After a most welcome and enjoyable vacatzon we agam entered Smoot H1gh School as sxlly Sophomores By this tlme our number was d1mm1shed to twenty exght two of those whom we lost durmg the fxrst semester We elected as our ofhcers the followmg Presxdent Frances Sheppard Vxce Presndent Charles Farren Secretary and Treasurer Pauline Holland Old Maid Aunts In May we began a glorious three months vacat1on from which we emerged as Jolly Jun1ors with twenty three members Four of whom have reslgned the paths of Book Learnmg to try their luck LH other fields of llfe Our act1v1t1es began wlth the choosmg of our class rlngs With several selections to choose from we selected a very nlce one from Jostens Rmg Company Our next busmess was the selection ot our class officers who are Presxdent James Dundrack Vxce Presldent Charles Farren Secretary and Treasurer Frances Sheppard Another actnvxty as our class play Uncle Josh Perluns to be gwen in April The play IS coached by Mrs Cooper our home room teacher Our three years at Smoot Hugh School have been happy ones for most of us with a few hard bangs here and there Our class roll now cludes Bxllxe Ann Anderson Maezne Bennett Nyla Jean Biggs Ruby Jean Cavendish Myrtle Cohenour James Dunbrack Charles Farren Faye Gllkerson La Roy Hutsenpnller Mary Vxrglma King Norma Jean Lackey B111 Legg Freddy Lowery B111 Muller Ehzabeth Montgomery Tommy Patterson Clara Lou Perkins James Puckett Frances Sheppard Our activities included a class party and our class play, Three ' u v nv - - . . in- 15
