Class Will We, the Senior Class of Smithville High School, 1955, being of sound mind and body, do here- by make this, our last will and testament. ARTICLE I To our Superintendent, Mr. Burkholder, we leave our thoughts that would please him most. To our Principal, Mr. McCay, we give our thanks for his help, especially in our mixed up class meetings. To our Faculty, we give our kindest regards and our deepest gratitude for their helping aid. To the Juniors, we leave our unopened books, our treasury headaches, our Annual troubles and anything else that goes with a Senior class. To the Sophomores, we leave our ability to defeat the next year's Seniors in basketball. To the Freshmen, we leave all ourexcuses to get out of classes for illegal and fictional meet- ings. ARTICLE II To our advisors, Mrs. Murray and Mr. Clark, we leave our thanks and appreciation for the help they have given us in the past years. ARTICLE III To our janitor, Vern Sinclair, we leave dirty halls, paper wads, pencil stubs, gum under desk tops and good jokes to pass on to the underclassmen. To our cooks, Mrs, Stuckey, Mrs. Sinclair, and Mrs. Schrock, we give our thanks for the many good meals they served us. To our secretary, Mrs. Zehner, we each leave one hour of our valuable time to make up for all of her valuable time we Wasted. ARTICLE IV Pearl Ault, will .my height to Janet Dilyard. Betty Bogner, will my ability to take over Mrs, O'Neall's place to anyone who would like it. Dennis Brillhart, will a bushel basket to Mrs. Murray who doesn't have a large enough hand bag. Anita Buchwalter, will my Physics workbook to Mr. Taylor so he will know the answers be- fore he gets to class. Barbara Butzer, will my ability to go steady f or over one year to Elaine Wirth who canit de- cide. Carl Byler, will my ability to wreck cars, without getting hurt, to Gerald Douglas who has a good start. Barbara Dickason, will my blond hair to Mrs. O'Neall who hasto use artificial methods to attain hers. . Ruth Drake, will my slim Waistline to Shirley Gwin. Carrol Eggeman, will my hog raising ability to my brother, Gary. Carmen Estes, will my hearty laugh to Esther Batdorf. Marion Falb, will my clarinet to Kenny Burington. Rowena Garman, will my fast talking to Leora Hostetler. Ernest George, will my manly physique to Bill Whittier. Shirley Gordon, will by ability to get along with Mrs. Walter to Phyllis Swisher. Edson Graber, will my chubbiness to Ronnie Steiner. Roland Groves, will my ability to sleep through school to Carmen Miller who can't sleep at night.

From the 58 members of our class these capable officers were chosen: President - Vice-President Secretary - Treasurer - Student Council Social Chairmen Sergeant at Arms Roger Ramseyer Richard Snyder Maxine Sheets Betty McCay Martha Hutchison Ronnie Singer Bonnie Wagers Gene Kauffman - Nathan Yoho In the early months of school the election for student council president was held. After a spirited campaign, the Senior candidate, Jack Snoddy, was elected. Again we used our acting talent when we presented our Senior class play, Meet Me in St. Louis on December 2. With Mrs. Murray directing, it was a success in spite of disagreeable weather on the night of the performance. In addition to selling concessions at the basketball games we had two big money-making projects which fattened up our treasury considerably. The class co-operated splendidly when we fed the Akron Milk Producers Association on January 22 and the NEOSBA on March 21. We had a very unusual class for over one half of the boys took part in some sport. We know they enjoyed this very much and would give anything to be back with that fighting spirit next year. The highlight of our high school career was realized on April 27 when we left for Wash- ington. We were thrilled indeed to be the first class in Smithville's history to be given time off from school for the class trip. 49 Seniors along with Mrs. Murray and Mr. Kasapis arrived in Washington, D. C., where We enjoyed the time of our lives and one that we shall never for- get. It was then that we realized that all our working, scrimping, and saving had not been in vain. Our trip completed we arrived back in Smithville on May 2 much wiser and sleepier. On May 7 the Junior class invited us to a very enjoyable banquet at Smithville Inn, after which we resorted to our own devices to provide entertainment for the rest of the night and probably longer. On May 13 we had our last class party in the form of a chicken roast at the Smithville Community Park, Our Baccalaureate service was held on May 22 and on May 26 Commencement exercises ended our school life in Smithville High. We tried our best to accomplish our aims While in high school but whether we did or not will be decided by those we leave behind.
