CLASS PROPHECY It was on such a night as this, ten eventful years ago, that the Class of 1948 graduated from Smithville High School. Let us see where their journey of life has led the members of that graduating class. Let us start with the president of that class. Orris Basinger is now head coach at Smithville. As we look at his record we find that his teams have been most successful. We End a few of the class have married. Juanita Limbacher has finally settled down and married engineer, Marvie Brueck. Mrs. Grant Carr, nee Kathryn Beck, is a happy wife and mother of twins. Sue Portwood has continued her singing career after interrupting it to marry Whitey Begert. Doris Jensen married her old boy-friend and is living in one of Smithville's newest penthouses. After Donna Hartzler married Harry Martin, they moved to Arkansas and are making a profitable business raising razorbacks. Mike Smith has established a new chain of Super Atomic service stations which are known from coast to coast. He has hired John Holderman as the manager of the Smithville branch. Tl f ,- HB ' ie amous ake It While You Wait pastry shop, run by Warren Conrad, supplies many restaurants and hotels. Among the latter is Smithville's new Statler Hotel in which Vince Besancon is head waiter. The building was designed by Dick Grove and built by the Harrison and Curie Construction Company. Gerald Miller is a dancing instructor at the Ohio Institute of Musical Jazz. He has per- fected a new dance step called the Drag Foot Dip which has revolutionized dancing. Norma Conrad is his receptionist. The Purple Parrot night club which recently opened under the management of Dale Zimmerman and Bill Olsen employs Ruth Gordon as hat check girl. Pat Winkler is cur- rently featured as the vocalist. For the New Look in dresses and gowns go to the May Co. and have Joanne Hostetler design them and Ruth Haley model them for you. Opal Weiser has attained the position as head buyer for the infants' wear department there. From all reports the Get-a-Date-Quick Escort Bureau, established by Adrain Shamp, is doing a thriving business. If any ill effects are sutTered by any of the customers, they are sent to the hospital at Paradise, where Dolores Marthey is head supervisor and Mae Zook is her capable assistant. The title of The Strongest Man in the World is now held by Ross Mosier. His strength has put Charles Atlas to shame. At the moment Ross is touring the country with his press agent Glenn Moore. Dorothy Rufener now owns and operates her own beauty salon. Her motto is, A wave in the hair is worth two in the ocean. just a few -doors from this shop is Delbert Rock's diaper service which is very popular with the young mothers of Smithville and sur- rounding areas. Patricia Blosser is taking post graduate work at Alabama to secure her masters degree in romance languages. Lillian Walters stopped off to see her on one of her recent trips. Lillian is one of the top-flight artists in the country. She returned to this country a few years ago after extensive study on the continent. If your wife needs to be shadowed or your car stolen, see Don Hughes, the private eye of Wayne County. jean Snyder works in a publishing house reading manuscripts. It was largely through her efforts that Dorothy McAnaney's First book was published. The succeeding books needed no help as they were best sellers . This is the conclusion of our summary of the Class of 1948. Where these people will he in another ten years only time can tell. -jean Snyder and Dorothy McAnaney Twenty-Iwo
