So her next office will be President of the U.S. . 16 JUNIOR CLASS PROPHECY It is the year 1999 and we have just landed at the Smithville International Airport. It is early and we have just pulled up by “Rug-Rats” Disco. We are just stepping out of our “Supersonic L0500” when; who pulls up but Perry Gwaltney, with sidekicks Rita and Ruth, pulling his horse trailer. He is now one of the top ten calf ropers in the IRA. Rita and Ruth are now working as top models for Fredericks of Hollywood, when they are not making the rodeos with Perry. We all decide to go in and see all the old familiar faces of twenty years ago. Once inside, I move over to the bar where who should I see but Shawn Free, now president of Alcoholics Anonymous, giving a lecture on the bad effects alcohol has on the body. I listen for a while when . . . who should show up but Jackie Morrow. This is a real surprise. Jackie never showed up for graduation and no one has seen her since. I move over to one of the corner tables when Ben Ashby, the proud owner of the disco, announces over the mike that he and the ever-lovely Virginia Shelton are engaged to be married. I look over and spot Keith Hopper and Odell Nichols in deep conference. Knowing that these two are co-presidents of the “Lonely Hearts Club I walk over to see if any free advice is being given out. They are plotting to break Ben and Virginia up, for she has been their only customer for 20 years. Without her, they would go absolutely broke. The music finally starts for Floyd Smith just arrived. He pursued a career in radio communications and is now the local disc jockey. Ben was very lucky to get him for he has a busy schedule. Who should be first on the dance floor but Mark, doing the Disco Duck. Mark is now our friendly area dealer for the Hoover Vacuum Company. There dancing with Brenda Jacobs is Smithville’s millionaire Jon Vanarsdoll. Brenda is also doing well she has just been promoted to President of the 1st National Bank of Smithville. Jesse Glover has just ridden up with his motorcycle gang the “Smithville Devils. Ben said the last time they were there they threw rolls of burning toilet paper in the windows and he had to call the local fire department, and to top that off the firemen Gerald Land and Gary Pollard, hooked the water hose up to the gas tank only making the fire worse. I look over in the corner and see Kevin Brown moaning about his new haircut. He had to get his afro trimmed down about six inches so his skull cap will fit over it. He has just been accepted into the royal order of Monks. Slowly making her way over to Kevin is Sister Lisa Martin, who recently became a nun. There is a rumor going around that they are singing to each other, “Sleepin’ double in a single bed.” A small crowd has gathered around one of the east tables. It looks as though Teresa Stoeckl is giving out autographs. Teresa finally established her life long goal of becoming famous. She is working with co-star Phyllis Diller in the new show “Beauty and the Beast”. Who’s to say which is which. Teresa is not the only famous person who has her own show. Richard Johnson, long time fan and follower of Virgil Ward, has taken over his show. Richards wife. Candy, has finally overcome her fear of childbirth and is working as an instructor in the prepared childbirth method. She also has 9 lovely daughters of her own. And speaking of children, Shirley has finally got her act together. She and Randy have 3 sets of twins and 1 set of triplets. Over in the far corner of the room I can see Tyler trying to wake up J.D. as he is tuckered out from instructing all those cute little beauties on Smithville’s Artificial Ski Slopes. Tyler has slowed down his act and is now the Driver Education instructor at the Smithville High School. Over by the door who should walk in but Lisa Parnell, who has surprised all of her former friends and classmates as she is now the first woman president of the Save Squirels of America. Annette H. is working as a waitress at Dixie’s Topless Bar and Grill, while Loretta and Leon who have passed the mark of newlyweds, have settled down on their 1000 acre farm in hopes of raising lots of little “L’s”. Cindy Rogers is still working the cafeteria as head cook and supervisor. Mike Walker is now projectionist at the Capehart Twin Theater, but he wants Loretta Going, Mafia’s No.l assassin, to rub out Mr. Capehart and Mrs. Mowdy so he can become owner of the theater. Janice B. is dancing around with an arrow through her head and a pair of rabbit ears on top as she is working with Steve Martin under the title a “Wild and Crazy Gal. Larry and Bobbie are now the most renowned ballet couple, however, Larry manages his own basketball team and Bobbie still models. Jerry is in Africa where he is a missionary and has found a wife, while Dennis made the mistake of marrying a liberated woman. He now stays home with the five and cooks and cleans house. After 20 years, Charlotte has accomplished her goal of being a librarian, as she no longer has trouble talking since all her teeth fell out. Dale Phillips and wife Kathy have just dropped in. He is now a five star general for the army. And finally after 20 years, Debbie has gotten the courage after telling Johnny to “wait until next week”, to let her parents know she’s getting married. Well this marks the end of the disco reunion. As I set back and watch all my friends fly off, I wonder what they will be in the next 20 years. 17 Jive Talking-Juniors Chitwood, Susan Cooper, Darrin Cunningham, Barry Dixon, Tonya Donica, David Fairless, Clifford Murray, Timmy Nichols, Tony Owens, Phyllis Phillips, Mona Phillips, Rickey Phillips, Roxie Smith. Back Row—Tyler Hurst, Kevin Brown, Larry Pollard, Coach Cooper Brown, Mark Anderson, Chris Brown, Richard Johnson. Smithville State Champs. It sure sounds good! The boys must have made that statement a few hundred times. They were all on cloud 9, maybe even 10. I think they were trying to convince themselves that it had really happened. They had not only gone to Ok- lahoma City to play in the state tournament for the first time, but they won the state tournament. It was a classic example of team effort. The hero was the team, not just the 10 boys that played but all those on the bench and our fans in the stands. The 10 boys were great and that’s an understatement.
