TO THE STUDENT BODY OF SMITHYILLE HIGH SCHOOL I accept with great pleasure this invitation of die Yearbook Staff to address the student body. Since coining here this year as your superintendent, I have enjoyed getting to know you, working with you, and helping you plan your cours- es of study and your student activities. Thank you for your friendly, courteous cooperation. The good school spirit that you have displayed on campus and in the field—whether it was competing with other schools in vocational meets, in academic excellence, accepting responsibolity in extracurricular activities, or on the back-board and mound—has made me proud to be on your team. You are a fortunate group of students in many ways. Nestled here In the heartland of our great nation amid forest and stream, you have neither the crowded city-ghetto specter nor the worsening shroud of pollution. Sired by fore-fathers who were not afraid of work, tempered by hardship and adversity, and schooled in the belief that brotherhood and the rights of man are sacred, you here can grow tall and reach uncharted heights.
