With the need for funds still hanging over us we started off the year with a Halloween Square Dance, which drew so many people and was so successful that it enlarged our treasury by quite a jump. What we were all patiently waiting for was Freshman Day when it would be our turn to torment the incoming freshmen. And when we finally did get the chance we really did a good iob. The freshmen were great sports and seemed to enioy themselves as much as we did. Our next event was the traditional Senior Play which required a great amount of work. The title of the play was The Happiest Days of Your Life. It seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all. We again were sponsors of a Valentine Dance similar to the one we gave during our iunior year, we were also co-s onsors of another Senior-Junior Faculty basket- P ball game with the seniors coming out the victors. Next came an event we were all anxiously waiting for, the Senior Prom. We decided to call it Midnight Sleighride, and based the theme on that. After two days of hard work on the part of the various Prom Committees the gym was decorated, refreshments were made and we were ready. In the center of the gym floor was a huge old fashioned sleigh which would be the throne of the Senior Queen crowned at the stroke of midnight by the class president. From the ceiling hung hundreds of artificial snow- flakes of various sizes. Our class history is a story of activities shared to- gether, but the real history is written in silent words. The external shell of high school we must leave, but the heart of our school we take with us, for our four years at Smithtown Branch High have imprinted themselves in our very being and have helped mold us into the people we are and will be. 554 ADDITIONAL SENIOR MOSTS TEACHERS' PROBLEM Ernie Young Martha Burns Gloria Alver Stuart Herrold Senior Class Officers: Seated, Stuart Herrold, President Standing: Gloria Alver, Vice President, John Morgan Treasurer, Arlene Palmer, Secretary.
