What we were all patiently waiting for was Freshman Day when it would be our turn to torment the incoming freshmen. And when we finally did get the chance we really did a good iob. The freshmen were great sports and seemed to enioy themselves as much as we did. Our next event was the traditional Senior Play which required a great amount of work. The title of the play was The Happiest Days of Your Life. It seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all. We again were sponsors of a Valentine Dance similar to the one we gave during our iunior year, we were also co-s onsors of another Senior-Junior Faculty basket- P ball game with the seniors coming out the victors. Next came an event we were all anxiously waiting for, the Senior Prom. We decided to call it Midnight Sleighride, and based the theme on that. After two days of hard work on the part of the various Prom Committees the gym was decorated, refreshments were made and we were ready. In the center of the gym floor was a huge old fashioned sleigh which would be the throne of the Senior Queen crowned at the stroke of midnight by the class president. From the ceiling hung hundreds of artificial snow- flakes of various sizes. Our class history is a story of activities shared to- gether, but the real history is written in silent words. The external shell of high school we must leave, but the heart of our school we take with us, for our four years at Smithtown Branch High have imprinted themselves in our very being and have helped mold us into the people we are and will be. 554 ADDITIONAL SENIOR MOSTS TEACHERS' PROBLEM Ernie Young Martha Burns Gloria Alver Stuart Herrold Senior Class Officers: Seated, Stuart Herrold, President Standing: Gloria Alver, Vice President, John Morgan Treasurer, Arlene Palmer, Secretary. Paced by Mr. Bowes and Mr. Hollins, the group conducts drives for worthwhile charities and does its best to improve conditions in the school. A successful magazine campaign and drives to help the Red Cross, the March of Dimes, the Children's Federation were only a few of their praiseworthy activities. HONOR SOCIETY Brains and beauty and brawn meet here. A high average and 2 3 vote of the faculty is the requirement for membership in the select Honor Society, a group whose con- cern is the general welfare of the school. Study hardethis is something Worth while to work towards. C009 ' sam gm' r 510 esidenllqglfte' Nlwl PY eX b 'XQY-Xl V S013 i RBCYN Cxexfx , x Soseph 636520 Roioernasow ju' 11 First row: E. Gatti, W. With a iury of six, drawn by lot for each session from the names of all the students, the Student Council tries traffic violations and assigns appropriate punishments. TRAFFIC SQUAD One step at a time. Go back and come up again. When we hear those words, we know Traffic Squad is on the iob. Sponsor, Mr. Erb, Captain, Dom Grisanzio and the squad of seniors do a fine iob of policing the halls and keep traffic flowing smoothly. I SENIOR PLAY Life in a British boarding school when schools had to double up during the war, was the theme of The Happiest Days of Your Life. The plot thickened when a girls' school was sent to share facilities with a boys' school. Mrs. Randall was the Director. November T4 and T5 were the dates. ical' SEARCHLIGHT Seated: G. Czelada, L. VARSITY FOOTBALL Prospects were dim for the 1952 Indian football squad as they reported for practice in the tall minus I5 letterman from the championship squad of the previous year. This year's Indian eleven was young and without experience, but they came through in true Smithtown fashion and never quit in spirit. Smithtown won the Tri-Hi trophy for the fifth year in a row. b Outstanding for the Indian team were linemen John Morgan, Pom Grisanziov and Buddy Fisher while Pop Treadwell and Vide Jaen were very valuable backs. As next year's football season gets closer, the smile on Coach Ouderkirk's face grows broader and broader.
