Their first and only win was a stunning upset handed to the Iunior Class Pros This was truly a see-saw game which kept the packed stands on their feet much of the game. Aching for revenge, the Indian Iunior Varsity trounced the Faculty from beginning to end in the second meeting of Faculty-Students. The teachers readily admitted that they had learned a lesson or two as the lopsided 52-30 score showed. The final game with the Seniors was also chalked up in the lost column as the graduates gave their all to thoroughly thrash the Faculty by an over- whelming 45-23 tally. l'aC Over twenty speedsters reported to the early spring call for track candi- dates. The squad was smaller this year due to the new ruling which does not allow athletes to be on more than one major team in the same season. In spite of this, Coach Bob Link, former track star and graduate of Smithtown Branch High School, is optimistic about his team's chances in the season ahead. The Indian cindermen will participate in two triangular meets this year as well as one two-team meet.

garfeglflf The final buzzer of the last basketball game was also the signal for the beginning of a new season of America's most popular sport. Over thirty-five candidates reported to Coach Thad Mularz for indoor workouts in the gym. The team was Hnally at twenty-one and then things were really under way. Several of last year's Indian stalwarts returned to the 1951 squad which will face one of its stiflest schedules in many years. The twelve-game season will open on April 23, with the final contest on May 31. ennia The Smithtown Branch High sports program was enlarged this year by the inauguration of a boys' tennis team. Fifteen boys were included in the squad which held practice sessions during the fall. A team was selected in the spring and our school was admitted to The Suffolk County Tennis League. Inter-school matches were played with Babylon, Bay Shore, Huntington, Patchogue, and Port Iefferson. Tennis coaches were Mr. Arthur C. Erb and Mr. George W. Quinlan. BASEBALL SQUAD First Row: H.
